Watch: 2026 Oscar Nominated Short Film 'Jane Austen's Period Drama'!

Image
I just saw the 2026 Oscar nominated  short film Jane Austen's Period Drama   and at first, I thought it was a new Austen adaptation, but it was a satire and literally was about a ''period drama" of a character in a period drama having a period, which was bloody hilarious and genius, actually. The end credits cleverly mentioned 2x Academy Award Winner Emma Thompson as Executive Menstrual Advisor , hahaha!!! :-D Jane Austen's Period Drama is a 2024 English-language short comedy film written and directed by Julia Aks (who also star as Miss Estrogenia Talbot) and Steve Pinder. The film is a satire on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. The film had its world premiere at the 39th Santa Barbara International Film Festival on February 9, 2024 . It's currently showing in hundreds of theaters across North America (now until March 15, 2026)! It was nominated for the Best Live Action Short Film at this year's 2026 Oscars (The  98th Academy Awards will be ...

Where Are They Now? Pride & Prejudice (2005) film's director Joe Wright and Production Crew 20 Years later (Part 3)

Image
My  P&P (2005) movie's 20th Year Anniversary  celebratory posts continues... I previously posted here about the  main cast  and  supporting cast  of  Pride & Prejudice  (2005) whose careers soared and have continued to be busy after their  P&P (2005) film . I thought I'd include the people or rather the key players  behind the scenes  who made this stunningly  beautiful movie  happen as without them, this film adaptation of Jane Austen's classic Pride and Prejudice (novel) wouldn't have been made. Also, some of them are incredibly talented and you may (or may not) have been surprised to have seen their familiar work in other well-known award-winning films. Plus, director  Joe Wright   not only love working with his actors from P&P in his other films, but he also loves working with the same production crew. See  JW  and some of his  P&P (2005) film crew  (with photos to see ...

Most Memorable Quotes from Pride & Prejudice (2005) film

Image
One of my many favorite things about Pride & Prejudice (2005) film starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen is the memorable lines/quotes that were said by our favorite characters in the film, but were not in the original source (P&P novel), which I thought was creative and quite clever as the added lines and newly created dialogue by best-selling novelist and P&P screenwriter Deborah Moggach (even additional lines that were written by Emma Thompson , albeit she was uncredited for, but she did received a mentioned and special thanks in the movie's end credits) fits perfectly, in addition to most of the actual lines/quotes taken from the book (though most were worded differently, but still meant the same).

P&P Blog's Interview with Pride & Prejudice (2005) film's Screenwriter, Deborah Moggach

Image
Our P&P (2005) movie's 10th Year Anniversary event here today continues... I had the pleasure in interviewing Pride & Prejudice (2005) film 's own Screenwriter , Deborah Moggach , who received a BAFTA nomination ( Adapted Screenplay ) for scripting Jane Austen 's Pride and Prejudice for the big screen, especially for our P&P 10th anniversary event and celebration here today. She is best known as the best-selling author of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (originally titled These Foolish Things ), which was adapted into the 2011 film starring Dame Judi Dench , Dame Maggie Smith , and Penelope Wilton and recently had a movie sequel, The Second Best Exotic Mariogold Hotel . Another one of her novels, Tulip Fever has been adapted into a new movie with Judi Dench and Tom Hollander co-starring. Her newest novel, Something To Hide was recently published. You can read more about Miss Moggach and her books and other work here . For now, read my Q&...

Photos: New Keira Knightley and Rosamund Pike photoshoot for Emma Thompson's book project 'SAFE'

Image
Pride & Prejudice actresses Keira Knightley and  Rosamund Pike (aka the eldest Bennet sisters ' Elizabeth and Jane ) are featured in a new photoshoot for British actress Emma Thompson 's new book and charity project called, " SAFE ." Emma Thompson , as many P&P/Jane Austen fans know, starred as Elinor Dashwood and wrote her Oscar winning adapted screenplay to 1995's Jane Austen film adaptation of Sense and Sensibility ( FYI:   According to her Bio on IMDB , Thompson is now married to fellow actor Greg Wise , who had played Willoughby in Ang Lee 's Sense and Sensibility (1995). Thompson and Wise have one child, Gaia, born in 1999. Interesting...I didn't know that...till now! Who knew S&S ' Elinor Dashwood and Willoughby would be a couple?! Well, not really the fictional characters per say, but the actors who played them...lol. Much like P&P 's own Keira and Rupert Friend ) She has a P&P movie connection t...
