Ranking 7 Pride and Prejudice Related Screen Adaptations (Modern Retellings/Inspired of/Variations from Top Favorite to Least Favorite)

Image
With Pride and Prejudice and Zombies movie now showing in US theaters nationwide (I haven't seen the movie yet, but will do very soon and post my review of it here, once I've seen it) and having seen almost every P&P adaptations ever made, I thought I'd compile and rank (from my current top favorite to least favorite ) here, 7 ( modern retellings/inspired of/variations ) TV & Film screen adaptations of Jane Austen 's classic   Pride and Prejudice   novel sans the 4 main standard P&P  ( 1940 , 1980 , 1995 , and 2005 ) adaptations . They are not included here on this list because this post is all about the variations and modern take aspect of Austen's P&P. I'll probably do a separate post on the standard ones (or combine both) next time.

P&P 200: The Lizzie Bennet Diaries Series Review

Image
The Lizzie Bennet Diaries ( 2012 YouTube/Vlog series) starring Ashley Clements and Daniel Gordh Continuing the 200th anniversary celebration of Jane Austen 's classic Pride and Prejudice novel, with my thoughts, opinions, and review of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries ( 2012 YouTube/Vlog series) starring Ashley Clements and Daniel Gordh . [ SIDE NOTE : This series is still on going and not done, yet...I know, but I thought I'd post my thoughts of this series, based on the 86 episodes I've seen, thus far...as I heard or rather read from one of the creators/headwriter Bernie Su's tumblr page (who has some very insightful BTS info about LBD ) that this series will be ending sometime next month. No actual end date mentioned yet. So, yeah...I don't know when that final episode will be shown...and I have been busy with so many things lately, so I decided to just post my early review (while I'm still in the mood of writing one) for this vlog series...

P&P 200: Pride and Prejudice TV & Movie Posters

Image
As the bicentenary of the publication of Jane Austen 's most beloved novel, Pride and Prejudice gets closer...just 10 days from today ( January 28th ), I am posting here more P&P related posts to continue the 200th Anniversary celebration. There were countless TV and film adaptations of Austen 's Pride and Prejudice that were made and whichever version you prefer or your favorite to watch, I thought I'd compile here at least  9 TV and film adaptations I've seen (including the recent hit vlog/youtube series The Lizzie Bennet Diaries and will be posting my reviews here of each P&P version very soon) and post the movie posters and DVD cover ( P&P 1980 and 1995 ) images. Check out the following movie posters / dvd covers from P&P 1940 to LBD 2012 ...

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Lifetime developing 'Darcy's Town,' a Modern-Day 'Pride & Prejudice'

As the 200th anniversary publication for Jane Austen 's classic novel Pride and Prejudice fast approaches ( January 28, 2013 ), the TV and Film adaptations for the classic novel seems to keep coming. First, there was Academy Award winner Natalie Portman 's still-in-development Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (she was previously set to star and produced, but dropped out due to scheduling conflict...last I heard, she's still producing this film...no news update for this one at this time). Then, the late Director Nora Ephron was set to direct a film version of 'Lost In Austen' (with her recent death last June, no word if this film version of Lost in Austen will still happen...might be unlikely now, but it's still listed as in-development on IMDB), and the very recent The Lizzie Bennet Diaries (an online modernized version of P&P) starring Ashley Clements is currently playing in Youtube with 71 episodes uploaded here: Watch Lizzie's YouTube chann...

Watch: William Darcy's vlog debut appearance on 'The Lizzie Bennet Diaries'

Image
"Are you kidding me?" (to quote Lizzie Bennet of LBD ) Finally, a modern (and most talked about) William Darcy made a debut appearance on The Lizzie Bennet Diaries (starring  Ashley Clements in the title role), the online/youtube series adaptation of Jane Austen 's Pride and Prejudice . It only took about 60 episodes (and no, the previous episode with faceless Darcy and only his body and torso to take a quick glimpse at towards the end of the episode, does not count, lol...such a tease, is it not?) for LBD vlog (video log) series to make Darcy's face appear on the Lizzie Bennet Diaries . It's about damn time! I've been waiting and waiting every episode for his appearance...for ages, and almost given up hope of seeing Darcy's mysterious face , lol...as I've been watching this fun and interesting vlog series version of P&P ...and while I quite liked and enjoyed watching it...yes, I've seen every single episode (they're like 3-4...

Watch: The Lizzie Bennet Diaries

Image
Just discovered this new vlog (video blog) series on YouTube titled The Lizzie Bennet Diaries (which just started earlier this month, April 9th ). At first, I thought this looks like another typical YouTube video parodies about P&P (and other Austen related viral videos on YouTube such as Jane Austen’s Fight Club ), but being a P&P fan and all, I watched it anyway, as the idea of seeing one of my favorite fictional literature characters Elizabeth Bennet in a video diary (would love to see Mr. Darcy Video Diary ...now that and with Mr. Darcy would make me an instant avid watcher, lol) like this Lizzie Bennet Diaries is a great idea. It got me curious and piqued my interest. I was pleasantly surprised that it was really well-done. I thought it was an interesting and brilliant idea to start a modern version of Pride and Prejudice , vlog/YouTube style ...and it's something quite different, fresh, entertaining, and very funny. With episodes uploaded on Mondays and Thur...
