Two Pride and Prejudice related book and movie news... Longbourn (Feature Film) and Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe (TV Christmas Movie). First, here's a bit of an update on the long in development feature film, I posted almost four years ago here: Focus Features acquired feature film rights for Pride and Prejudice spinoff 'Longbourn' . This movie is now listed (on IMDB) as being on pre-production (very recently updated this January 27th) and looks to be slated to released for sometime this year. No casting news and filming info. as of yet. For now, here's a little info...

It is a truth universally acknowledged that    Jane Austen 's  "darling child,"  PRIDE AND PREJUDICE , originally titled, "First Impressions," celebrates its 204th Anniversary of publication   today, January 28, 2017! Today ( January 27th ) is the lovely and ethereally beautiful, Golden Globe , BAFTA , and Academy Award nominee for Best Actress (for her outstanding performance as Amy Dunne in Gone Girl )  Rosamund Pike  (aka Pride & Prejudice 2005 's very own Jane Bennet )'s  38th Birthday !  All the best to her on her upcoming film projects slated to be released starting with the US theater release of A United Kingdom next month ( February 10th ) and more films sometime later this year. Born  Rosamund Mary Elizabeth Pike  in (Hammersmith) London, England, UK.  Miss Pike  is  an only child , her  parents  are  Julian  and  Caroline Pike . Great news for fans of Unleashing Mr. Darcy (starring Ryan Paevey as Donovan Darcy , Cindy Busby as Elizabeth Scott , and Frances Fisher as Violet Darcy ), the DVD is finally coming on May 2nd, 2017 (via It's A Wonderful Movie Blog ). So, Mark your calendars! It premiered this month last year ( January 23, 2016 ) on Hallmark Channel (as part of Winterfest 2016 ). No listing yet on Amazon for pre-order details, but I'll be sure to update this post as soon as it's does. Speaking of this movie, it just re-aired last Saturday (January 21st) and looks like it's going to be showing again on Hallmark Channel (as listed, but only one time though, on the movie's page next schedule airing here ) next month close to Valentine's Day! 2016 is now last year and we're now in the the middle or close towards the end of January in the New Year 2017 ! You know what that means, right? New TV series/returning shows and movies to look forward to this Winter and Spring from our favorite P&P (2005) actors! Continuing my annual list of some Pride & Prejudice (2005) alumni (and director Joe Wright ) with a new movie and  TV series or mini-series starting this month of January  through April  of 2017 (as well as a few upcoming films  to see in mid to late  2017 !). Featured P&P (2005) actors : Keira Knightley , Matthew Macfadyen , Rosamund Pike ,  Jena Malone ,  Kelly Reilly , Rupert Friend , Tamzin Merchant , Tom Hollander , Donald Sutherland ,  Brenda Blethyn ,  Judi Dench , and Penelope Wilton . Plus P&P director Joe Wright 's upcoming film. The following P&P '05 actors has new films (and returning TV series ) to be released this Winter/Spring ...

More new US and UK posters has been released (via Pathe UK) for  Belle  director  Amma Asante ’s latest film  A United Kingdom  starring  Rosamund Pike   with her  Jack Reacher  co-star  David Oyelowo  (who co-produced the film). The film premiered at  TIFF  (Toronto Int. Film Festival) last year (September 9th). It served as the  Opening Night gala   of the  60th BFI London Film Festival ,  with its  European premiere  set for Wednesday,  October 5th .   As for the U.S. Theatrical Release, after the premiere of the movie at TIFF last September,  Fox Searchlight bought the North American rights to this film with a February 10, 2017 release. 2016 has been a good year for this  P&P '05 Blog  and it's all because of  YOU .  Thank YOU all so much  for  visiting ,  reading , and  commenting here and for making this year, a wonderful year!  Like last year, I had a great time posting, updating, and keeping this  Blog  and  P&P movie  alive, at least for most of this year.
