Casting News: Keira Knightley and Bridgerton's Luke Thompson to star in stage play adaptation of 'The Lives of Others'

Oscar nominee Keira Knightley (The Imitation Game, Black Doves, The Misanthrope), Emmy winner Stephen Dillane (The Real Thing, The Tunnel, Game of Thrones), and Olivier nominee Luke Thompson (A Little Life, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Bridgerton) will lead the cast of the play, which explores artistic censorship, state surveillance, and the relationship between art and politics. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
The production sees Icke and producer Sonia Friedman renew their creative partnership following their work on Oedipus, Manhunt, Hamlet, The Doctor, Oresteia, and 1984; Knightley and Friedman also worked together on The Children’s Hour.
The Lives of Others is set in 1984 East Germany as a writer and an actor are placed under state surveillance. From the attic above their apartment, their Stasi man listens for evidence of subversion.
