Casting News: Matthew Macfadyen and Michael Shannon to star in Netflix's new drama series "Death by Lightning"!

Netflix has announced today that Matthew Macfadyen will be starring in a new series, Death By Lightning with Michael Shannon.

Netflix Announces New Drama Series 'Death by Lightning' Starring Michael Shannon and Matthew Macfadyen

Netflix today announced new series Death by Lightning, a drama retelling the rise of US President James Garfield and his subsequent assassination by Charles Guiteau, from Creator Mike Makowsky and Executive Producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, under their deal with Netflix, and Matt Ross, who will direct all episodes.

Based on the novel Destiny Of The Republic by Candice Millard.

Logline: Death by Lightning is a drama series that brings to life the epic and stranger-than-fiction true story of James Garfield, reluctant 20th president of the United States, and his greatest admirer Charles Guiteau — the man who would come to kill him. Format: Drama

CAST

  • Matthew Macfadyen (Succession, Deadpool 3, Stonehouse, Operation Mincemeat) will play ‘Charles Guiteau.’ 

  • Michael Shannon (George & Tammy, Waco, Nocturnal Animals, Revolutionary Road) will play ‘James Garfield.’

Well, color me surprised (much like her P&P co-star Rupert Friend’s birthday confusion...) as I’ve been celebrating her birthday on this day for years, lol. I blame her IMDB and Wiki pages for not providing her real birthdate, if her actual birthday is, in fact not today! Although there’s that one time it was listed on the 28th, but for years and even now it’s still listed as the 27th! Our P&P (2005) movie's 10th Year Anniversary event here continues... One of the many things I love about Pride & Prejudice ( 2005 ) movie is the memorable and quotable quotes (and dialogue ). I know pretty much every line/quote uttered by various characters in this movie by heart. There isn't just one to remember because there are so many unforgettable quotes and one-liners from this movie. For my Top 10 Favorite Pride & Prejudice Movie Quotes here, it was very hard to pick and just narrow it down to 10, but that's the point of making a top 10 list. P&P Movie Script

I was looking through old threads over at IMDB a while back and I found a link to the P&P 2005 movie script ... from an awesome JA/P&P fanfiction related site called, Mrs. Darcy's Story Site . I've read the entire script from this site. It seemed accurate with deleted scenes included! (though there were spelling errors on some of the lines...just a lil' typo here and there)... Btw, the webmistress at Mrs. Darcy's site has added her comments to the script comparing this draft with what was actually released on film , which I thought was quite interesting (especially the deleted scenes from the movie ). It was a lot of fun to read. I thought I would keep the link and post it here (a lil' excerpt here) for those of you might be interested in reading this or have been looking for the P&P movie script/transcript online.
