Stage Play News: Audible brings Carey Mulligan's 'Girls & Boys' show from London to New York!

Photo Credit: Marc Brenner) is returning to New York for her Girls & Boys show (which I previously posted here last November 2017 for the London play that premiered in February of this year) from the Royal Court Theater in London to the Minetta Lane Theater in New York. Previews will begin this Saturday, June 12th with an opening night scheduled for June 20th!

Audible Brings ‘Girls & Boys’ With Carey Mulligan to New York

Audible Inc. is continuing its move into the theater world by bringing the live stage production of “Girls & Boys” starring Carey Mulligan from the Royal Court Theater in London to the Minetta Lane Theater in New York.

Previews will begin June 12, with opening night scheduled for June 20. Ms. Mulligan’s performance will be recorded and released as an audio play, the company said.

Written by Dennis Kelly, “Girls & Boys” received its world premiere in London in February in a production directed by Lyndsey Turner.

Ms. Mulligan is the play’s sole performer. She stars as a woman whose marriage implodes with disastrous consequences.

Of her work in the play, Matt Wolf wrote for The New York Times, “there’s no trace of the sensational in Ms. Mulligan’s performance,” which showed “playfulness and quick-wittedness.”

“Girls & Boys” will be the second live stage production by Audible, the audiobook subsidiary of Amazon.
