Director Joe Wright expressed his appreciation. “As you might expect, the fantastical story of Peter Pan involves very complex effects, and I did not want to compromise on quality in finishing the film,” he said in a statement. “This allows me and my team the time to complete the movie and tell the story the way it should be told.”
By moving Pan out of the summer, the studio takes it out of a summer tentpole-cluttered season, which includes both Terminator Genisys and Ted 2 in June along with Ant-Man in July and the kid-friendly Minions from Universal, which would have bowed one week before.
It will compete that October weekend now with Universal Pictures’ Steve Jobs, which stars Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet and Seth Rogen. The only other picture is Relativity’s tentatively titled Kidnap.
