Movie Casting News: Keira Knightley joins the cast of 'Everest'

According to VarietyKeira Knightley has joined the ensemble cast of Everest. The film from Working Title Films and Universal Pictures is slated to opens in 3D and IMAX 3D on September 18, 2015. Keira will play climber Rob Hall (Jason Clarke)'s wife Jan Arnold Hall.
Other cast members include Jason Clarke (“The Great Gatsby,” “Zero Dark Thirty”), who plays climber Rob Hall, Josh Brolin (“True Grit,” “No Country for Old Men”), John Hawkes (“Lincoln,” “Martha Marcy May Marlene”), and Jake Gyllenhaal (“Source Code,” “Brokeback Mountain”). Knightley portrays Hall’s wife Jan Arnold. 
The movie, which is about rival Everest expeditions caught in a blizzard, shot at Pinewood Studios and CineCitta, and on location in England, Nepal and the Italian Alps.Baltasar Kormakur (“2 Guns,” “Contraband”) directs the pic, which is in post-production. 
Universal Pictures will distribute worldwide.The casting of Knightley was first reported in Baz Bamigboye’s column in the Daily Mail.

Keira Knightley, who quietly joined the cast of the epic film Everest (shot in 3D and IMAX 3D), and portrays Jan Arnold, widow of climber Rob Hall, who conquered the mountain five times.  
The movie is about two rival expeditions caught in a blizzard. 
Keira shot most of her scenes at Pinewood and around the Home Counties. 
Other cast members, including Jason Clarke who played Hall, filmed in Nepal and the Italian Alps. The movie, which is in post-production, also features Josh Brolin, John Hawkes and Jake Gyllenhaal.  
Keira was wooed onto the project by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, who run Working Title. They’ve worked with her before on Pride And Prejudice, Atonement and Anna Karenina.

All 4 of Keira's films this year of 2014: Jack Ryan (January 17th), Begin Again (July 4th), Laggies (September 26), and The Imitation Game (November 21st) are slated for US theatrical release!
