Image
Pride & Prejudice (2005) Fan Blog Celebrates 18 Years Online! On this day ( May 29th, 2007 ), exactly  eighteen years  ago, I started this little  P&P fan blog . Wow, it's been  18  long years !!! I can't believe it's been  18 years  already!!! It seems just like yesterday, I was a just newbie to Blogger...and was learning and figuring out how to post, let alone, add codes and contents to this blog. I never would’ve thought I'd be blogging about all things  P&P , not too mention this long, but it's all because of my continued love and appreciation for this  2005 movie version  of  Pride & Prejudice   and the amazing actors who portrayed my favorite  P&P characters  brilliantly on this  4th-time Oscar nominated  film. I've really enjoyed blogging here and posting all things  P&P  (though in recent years it's been mostly about  P&P actors  and their  TV ...

Okay, I'm not going to stop blogging here as I've been blogging and maintaining this P&P Blog for over 7 years and it's been a lot a fun. I love and enjoy posting randomly here even if it's a lot of work and I spent countless hours on uploading photos and trailer screen captures, posting TV & Film news of my favorite P&P (2005) actors and director Joe Wright (as well as any P&P/Austen related news articles), editing and updating various sections and pages of this blog, and keeping my all-time favorite movie alive and maintaining this fan blog for my fellow devoted P&P fans for as long as I can. It sure is a lot of work, especially when I do it all, mostly by myself (and don't get paid doing it either, but I don't mind because I love P&P and this 2005 movie so much that it has become a personal hobby and passion of mine to keep this going for almost 8 years now. The best thing about this is...this is my blog, my precious baby blog t...

6 Signs That Elizabeth Bennet Has Taken Over Your Life by Syrie James [Jane Austen's First Love Holiday Blog Tour & Fabulous Giveaways!]

Image
[Updated: 12/24/14] 5 LUCKY WINNERS has been ANNOUNCED for JANE AUSTEN's FIRST LOVE HOLIDAY BLOG TOUR GIVEAWAY CONTEST here! Did you win? Congrats to all the winners!!! Jane Austen may well have based her character Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice on herself, for they are similar in many ways. Jane Austen was an extremely intelligent woman with a wonderful (and sometimes snarky) sense of humor, and was a master at delivering the ironic, barbed comment. So was Elizabeth Bennet. Jane was an independent thinker who loved taking long walks in the countryside. She was devoted to her family and friends, yet very particular when it came to opening her heart to others. Elizabeth Bennet was exactly the same!

“Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall” by Regina Jeffers

Often in the visual representations of Jane Austen ’s works, the media employs props or artifacts as visual cues to Austen’s themes of flawed impressions , misconceptions , and false interpretations . For example in Austen’s Emma , Harriet’s sketch serves as a means to reveal how the other characters feel about Emma’s friend. Mr. Elton flatters Emma’s representation of her subject rather than remark on Harriet. Mr. Woodhouse’s sensibility and his need for fires in all the hearths shows through when he says that Harriet has been subjected to the elements when she is portrayed without a shawl. Even Mr. Knightley gives the viewer a clue to how he feels about Emma’s efforts to raise Harriet up in Society. Upon observing the sketch, he says that Emma has made Harriet “too tall.” The resetting of the miniature of Captain Benwick in Persuasion serves as a the perfect symbol for Captain Harville’s and Anne’s “debate” over the constancy of females and males in love. In Mansfield...

Visiting the Inspirations behind Pride and Prejudice by Olivia Lennox

Image
For anybody visiting England, traveling to Jane Austen’s birthplace and other nearby locations is both a fascinating and insightful experience for any Pride and Prejudice fan . The locations where Jane Austen lived and worked provided much of the inspiration that enabled her to pen such a masterpiece, and seeing these for yourself is a memorable and rewarding experience. Nestled away in the quiet English countryside, just outside the town of Basingstoke in Hampshire, is the leafy village of Steventon, where Jane Austen was born and raised. Steventon provided Austen with much of her inspiration for Pride and Prejudice , which she wrote whilst living there. When Jane Austen was born, in 1775, stage coaches to London regularly stopped by on the Winchester Road, formerly Popham Lane, where the young writer would walk with her father and soak in the inspiration provided by the village and its regular visitors.

Elizabeth Darcy and Black Friday Sales by Barbara Tiller Cole (+ Win a giveaway!)

Image
Friday begins the shopping rush for the upcoming Holiday Season . While I am not a huge fan of Day after Thanksgiving sales (now called Black Friday since 2005), I know many of my friends anticipate them all year long. While contemplating that today I was quite shocked and extremely excited when Elizabeth Darcy , from my story Fitzwilliam Ebenezer Darcy , stopped by to talk with me.  I will not question how she managed to transport herself to my humble abode (after all I wrote a story about ghostly visitations), but she did want to speak to me about this particular Holiday custom.  I recorded our conversation and will transcribe it for your entertainment. EDarcy:   Miss Cole, or should I say Lady Cole?  BTCole:   Ms. Cole, but I would be happy if you would wish to call me Barbara, Mrs. Darcy. EDarcy:   I would be honored, Barbara.  Please call me, Elizabeth. BTCole:   Thank you, Elizabeth. I understand you have some quest...

Pride and Prejudice’s Indelible Influence by Laurel Ann Nattress (with a Book Giveaway!)

Hi Jeane , thanks again for hosting me during my Grand Tour of the blogosphere in celebration of the release of my new Austen-inspired anthology, Jane Austen Made Me Do It . The book premiered last week and I could not be more pleased by the reception it received during its launch party at the Sundance Square Barnes & Noble during the 2011 Jane Austen Society of North America’s conference in Ft. Worth, TX. Jane Austen ’s second published novel, Pride and Prejudice , is by far her most well-known and popular works. In fact, it continually pops into the top five “favorite books of all time” lists, and Mr. Darcy is equally acclaimed as the most romantic man in all fiction. There are hundreds of Mr. Darcy does “this and that” sequels and retellings in print, and many movie adaptations gracing the screen and television of our cherished P&P . Websites and blogs also herald its charms. Here I am at one of them today! With all this adoration and praise thrown at its f...
