The 85th Academy Award Nominations has been announced this morning and Joe Wright 's Anna Karenina (starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen ) is nominated for 4 Oscars! Once again, no love for our trio: Keira , Matthew , and Joe (in acting and directing categories)...they're in good company though as lots were snubbed in the Oscar nominations this year. But I'm glad that they didn't ignore Anna Karenina 's tech side (ie. Dario Marianelli , Sarah Greenwood , Katie Spencer , Seamus McGarvey , and Jacqueline Durran ) who worked on its brilliant technical side that deserved to be recognized and nominated. Their nominations, at least made up for the lack of the acting categories and directing. Hope they win it all. UPDATE: Anna Karenina just won 2 Critics Choice Awards tonight! They won their only two nominations...Congrats AK crew!!! Best Costume Designer - Jacqueline Durran Best Art Direction - Sarah Greenwood (production design) and Katie ...

The award nominations snubs continues for Joe Wright 's Anna Karenina and its stars Keira Knightley , Matthew Macfadyen , and Jude Law for the acting categories and even for directing for Joe Wright himself. It's ashamed because these award shows tend to nominate the same actors (mostly for their popularity instead of their acting, which a lot of times were not worthy of a nomination, but they're big stars and popular, so let's nominate them or whatever...surprising, right? NOT!). Will the BAFTA 's and Oscars follow this trend? We shall see their nomination announcements are coming up soon ( Jan. 9 for BAFTA and Jan. 10th for the Oscars ) in January 2013 .  Anyway, let's get to the GG nominations ... On TV, Three Golden Globe Nominations for Downton Abbey , Homeland with 4,  Hatfields & McCoys with 2 nominations . Other GG nominations for feature films starring P&P actors/crew , The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel with 2 (including an a...

Another Variety SAG preview: Actors on Actors is Michael Fassbender on (his Eden Lake co-star) Kelly Reilly , whose latest film Flight with Denzel Washington is currently playing in US theaters . Michael Fassbender on Kelly Reilly in 'Flight' SAG Preview: Actors on Actors - Fassbender on Reilly   By Michael Fassbender The thing that always lingers after a job is the talent we encounter. When Kelly and I worked on "Eden Lake" together, it required us to go to extreme places, and so I have been exposed to Kelly's talent in abundance. It was unadorned, fearless and brilliant. In "Flight" she navigates expertly, a complex and harrowing journey on which she takes her character, but once again so distinctively and personally that she effortlessly takes the audience along too. Kelly can go from broken bird to warrior in the blink of an eye. Always with the greatest of charm and intelligence. Speaking of Kelly and Flight ...
