LIVE Blogging Tonight is for the 85th Academy Awards (starting at 7e/4p for its annual red carpet )! Joe Wright 's Anna Karenina (starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen ) film is nominated for 4 Oscars , unfortunately, neither on the acting nor the directing categories, but in the technical categories! Still, glad the Oscars recognized the amazing crew of AK and their beautiful work. Here's hoping they'll win at least one or two or win them all!   Available now on DVD and Blu-ray (since February 12th) is Skyfall , which the lovely Judi Dench co-starred and reprise her M role (from the Bond films) with Daniel Craig . Last November 2012, I saw this film. I posted my full   Film Review: Skyfall in my other blog, In The Mood For Movies , where I post my general movie reviews (of the movies I've seen in theaters). Skyfall was one of the huge box-office hits of 2012 and the most successful (and highest grossing) Bond film in Bond films' franchise history. According to Box Office Mojo , it grossed over $303.9 million (as of February 18, 2013) in domestic gross and $804+ million in foreign with a worldwide total gross of $1.1 billion ! The EE British Academy Film Awards 2013 ( BAFTA ) is tonight on BBC America at 8/7c! Joe Wright 's Anna Karenina ( staring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen ) scored 7 BAFTA nominations (including a Rising Star Award for AK 's Alicia Vikander - Vote for her! )!!! UPDATE: BAFTA 2013 Winners has already been announced... and so far the winners are: Best Costume Design - Anna Karenina - Jacqueline Durran Outstanding British Film - Skyfall Best Film Music - Skyfall - Thomas Newman Will post a list of all the winners later tonight! The 85th Academy Award Nominations has been announced this morning and Joe Wright 's Anna Karenina (starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen ) is nominated for 4 Oscars! Once again, no love for our trio: Keira , Matthew , and Joe (in acting and directing categories)...they're in good company though as lots were snubbed in the Oscar nominations this year. But I'm glad that they didn't ignore Anna Karenina 's tech side (ie. Dario Marianelli , Sarah Greenwood , Katie Spencer , Seamus McGarvey , and Jacqueline Durran ) who worked on its brilliant technical side that deserved to be recognized and nominated. The award nominations snubs continues for Joe Wright 's Anna Karenina and its stars Keira Knightley , Matthew Macfadyen , and Jude Law for the acting categories and even for directing for Joe Wright himself. It's ashamed because these award shows tend to nominate the same actors (mostly for their popularity instead of their acting, which a lot of times were not worthy of a nomination, but they're big stars and popular, so let's nominate them or whatever...surprising, right? NOT!). Will the BAFTA 's and Oscars follow this trend? Judi Dench celebrated her 78th Birthday yesterday with her latest blockbuster hit Skyfall film returning to the top spot after spending 3 straight weeks at #2 and opening debut at #1, 5 weeks ago. According to Box Office Mojo , Skyfall estimated $11 million , which brings its domestic total to an incredible $261.6 million. The awards season just started...and the 17th Annual Satellite Awards (as voted by International Press Academy) had just been announced. Anna Karenina has 6 nominations including an Actress in a Motion Picture nomination for Keira Knightley (unfortunately, no nominations for Joe Wright and Matthew Macfadyen ), Skyfall has 7 nominations including an Actress in a Supporting Role nomination for Judi Dench , and Flight has about 5 nominations (unfortunately, no nomination for Kelly Reilly ). A new U.S. poster above ^ for Skyfall (starring Daniel Craig and Judi Dench ) was recently released and now the theme song (same title) from this film is co-written and performed by multiple Grammy award winner, British singer Adele was released last Friday October 5th , in celebration of World Bond Day , which marks the film franchise’s 50th anniversary . Summer's over! Yep, you know what that means, right? New TV series/returning shows and movies to look forward to from our favorite P&P actors!
