New Interview: Carey Mulligan talks The Greatest, Wall Street, Never Let Me, and more!

Another new interview of Carey Mulligan as she promotes her new film, The Greatest (which opens in theaters this Good Friday, April 2nd).

This time, the CM new interview is from Hollywood News.com...

Hollywood News recently spoke to Mulligan in Los Angeles at a press day for the film. In addition to speaking about the appeal of working on another modest project as she ventures tentatively into the world of big-budget filmmaking, she offered a few updates about some future projects, including Money Never Sleeps, the Kazuo Ishiguro adaptation Never Let Me Go, and My Fair Lady, a proposed remake of the acclaimed musical for which Mulligan is considered the perfect stand-in for her on-screen forebear, Audrey Hepburn.

Movie News: Rosamund Pike to star in Women In Love

According to Baz Bamigboye of  UK's The Daily Mail, Rosamund Pike is to star in a new version of the wildly erotic classic Women In Love, playing the same part that won Glenda Jackson her first Oscar 40 years ago.
In its day, Ken Russell's 1969 interpretation of D.H Lawrence's novel about sexual nature and grim industrial reality pushed the boundaries of sexual acts and nudity on screen.

Shooting on the new film, for BBC4, will begin in mid-April on locations in South Africa, standing in for a Midlands mining town. (Russell shot his movie in Derbyshire.)

The aim is to explore sexual relationships between men and women, and how World War I hurled a rural community into the harshness of 20th-century industrial reality.

The root of the project is sexual relations and animal passions involving two sisters - sculptress Gudrun Brangwen (the part Rosamund will play) and her sister Ursula, a timid teacher - and two men from opposite sides of the social divide, Rupert Birkin and Gerald Crich.

InStyle Video: New and old Rosamund Pike InStyle UK's Photo shoot

I just found this very interesting and new (or rather old from last year, but new in a way that it's never-before-seen...or at least I've never seen it before till now...have you?) InStyle photo shoot video of Rosamund Pike. She was featured in the magazine too and this was when she was probably promoting An Education. Odd, that I missed this last year when I was posting a lot of news and articles about An Education, lol.

Movie Rumors: Carey Mulligan cast as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady?

So, Keira Knightley's out (she was reportedly attached to the Eliza Doolittle role, but dropped out of it, because it was taking too long to get started on the film) and now Carey Mulligan's (or so blogs/media and Emma Thompson are saying she has been cast...but is she really...) in? Interesting...with Emma Thompson reportedly writing the screenplay and saying she is.

Here's an article saying so, from...

Broadway World, via BBC Radio 5 Live:
Carey Mulligan is set to play Eliza Doolittle in the upcoming remake of My Fair Lady, written by Emma Thompson. Previous rumors suggested that Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman were interested in the coveted role of Doolittle, however Thompson revealed that Mulligan has been cast.

Though no one has been cast as male lead Henry Higgins, rumors have sugguested that Hugh Grant might be linked to the role. On this subject Thompson stated, “But we still don’t know about Higgins. I love Hugh so I’d love him to do it, he might want to, he might not want to, so we don’t know yet. But hopefully we’ll make it later this year.”
It's interesting that this casting news is all over the web, but Carey herself was just interviewed by Collider.com and said that she isn't signed or cast in this film, lol.

Here's a new interview of Carey from Collider.com:
Since her Oscar nominated performance in An Education, all eyes have been on British actress Carey Mulligan. With a role in Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, recently pushed back to a September 24th release date, and the intriguing dramatic thriller Never Let Me Go, based on the novel by Kazuo Ishiguro, everyone wants to know what she’ll be doing next.

According to the actress herself, she stated during the press day for her latest drama The Greatest (which we’ll have more on closer to the April 2nd release date) that she has not signed on to play Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, nor has she received a call to do Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, at this point, but she is looking to play really interesting characters that challenge and terrify her.  She also talked to us about working for Mark Romanek.
Check out what she had to say...

Amazing Grace: Rosamund Pike recreates the timeless style of movie legend Grace Kelly

New beautiful photo shoots of Rosamund Pike (photo by Nicky Emmerson), recreating the timeless style of the late movie legend (and Princess of Monaco) Grace Kelly and an article from the UK's The Guardian...

Amazing Grace: The movie icon look for 2010

From a major V&A exhibition to the look of Mad Men's leading ladies, Grace Kelly is everywhere this spring.

Actor Rosamund Pike pulls on her white gloves and travels to Monaco to recreate her timeless style
Half a century later, there is something of the Kelly lineage in Rosamund Pike, the young actor with the cool-drink-of-water good looks who gamely agreed to model this season's take on the Grace Kelly look in Monaco for us. Pike wrote in Vogue last year about the experience of playing the adorable, childlike, Monroe-esque character of Helen in An Education – a comic role she played to delicious perfection – and how differently cast and crew related to her, compared with her experiences playing more arch, aloof blondes. "Kelly put a lot of space around her, which enabled audiences to project a lot," is how Pike pegs the Kelly magic. She's right: there's something self-possessed about Kelly, which seems subtly to reinforce her personal space. Those white gloves remind us to keep at arm's length. Mention iciness, however – Vogue, after all, dubbed Kelly "as remote as a Snow Queen" – and Pike comes to her defence: "I don't see icy at all. No. Icy suggests hardness. She had a way of being untouchable without being cold. She was intensely natural and fresh and feminine. What do I see? Grace, I suppose, as in the noun."
