Watch: Matthew Macfadyen's return and cameo in BBC One's 'Spooks' series finale episode

Before most of us P&P fans of Focus Features' Pride & Prejudice (2005) film came to know Matthew Macfadyen as our favorite Mr. Darcy, who played the true love of Keira Knightley's Oscar nominated heroine Elizabeth Bennet, Matthew had done a few not so well-known (unless you're an MM fan, of course) other earlier films (ie. In My Father's Den, Enigma, Maybe Baby , and Wuthering Heights) and TV miniseries (ie. The Way We Live Now and Perfect Strangers), and most notably he was one of the original cast members (along with his real-life wife, actress Keeley Hawes, who played fellow MI-5 agent Zoey Reynolds) of the BBC One's very popular and successful spy drama series Spooks (best known to some of us, U.S. fans, as MI-5) as MI5 agent Tom Quinn (aka Matthew Archer). The series lasted 10 seasons, and just ended recently with MM's brief cameo return reprising his fan favorite Tom Quinn character. The series' ending wouldn't have had its closure if Tom Quinn wasn't on it. So, glad he was a part of it, even if it was a fleeting glance, after all, he was there from when the show started.

New 'J.Edgar' production stills featuring Judi Dench

Collider has 72 Images for J. EDGAR Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and it featured at least 5 stills featuring Judi Dench, who is playing Leo DiCaprio's title character J. Edgar's mother. Also, it includes an on set pic of J.Edgar director Clint Eastwood and Judi Dench.

J. Edgar opens in limited release on November 9, and expands nationwide on November 11.

Jeane: How and when did you become a Jane Austen fan?

Laurel Ann: Hi Jeane, I am very happy to be here today at Pride and Prejudice 2005 blog on my Grand Tour of the blogosphere to celebrate the release of Jane Austen Made Me Do It. I love talking about my favorite author Jane Austen and my new short story anthology.

I was first introduced to Jane Austen as a pre-teen by my mother Carolyn. We had watched the 1940 MGM Pride and Prejudice together. I liked it, but I was not really hooked until 1980 when I saw the Masterpiece Theatre mini-series of Pride and Prejudice on television. It was a seminal moment. I read the novel and all of Jane’s works shortly after and have been a fan ever since.

Hi Jeane, thanks again for hosting me during my Grand Tour of the blogosphere in celebration of the release of my new Austen-inspired anthology, Jane Austen Made Me Do It. The book premiered last week and I could not be more pleased by the reception it received during its launch party at the Sundance Square Barnes & Noble during the 2011 Jane Austen Society of North America’s conference in Ft. Worth, TX.

Jane Austen’s second published novel, Pride and Prejudice, is by far her most well-known and popular works. In fact, it continually pops into the top five “favorite books of all time” lists, and Mr. Darcy is equally acclaimed as the most romantic man in all fiction. There are hundreds of Mr. Darcy does “this and that” sequels and retellings in print, and many movie adaptations gracing the screen and television of our cherished P&P. Websites and blogs also herald its charms. Here I am at one of them today!

With all this adoration and praise thrown at its feet, it is no surprise that there are seven Pride and Prejudice-inspired stories in my new anthology, Jane Austen Made Me Do It. I am very happy to offer this preview of them with you today:

Even without any major openings, Johnny English Reborn was off just 18 percent to $17.2 million. It held first place in the U.K. and Germany with $5 million and $2.6 million, respectively. The movie has so far made $85.1 million overseas, and distributor Universal reports that it is outperforming the first Johnny English ($133 million). Johnny English Reborn opens in the U.S., France and Mexico next weekend.

Johnny English Reborn had its best weekend yet with $21.1 million from 32 territories. It had a great $7.7 million first place debut in the U.K., which is star Rowan Atkinson's best opening ever there. It also mustered a solid $3.4 million first place start in Germany. The spy spoof sequel has already earned $61.1 million and is set to open in nine more territories next weekend ahead of its U.S. debut on Oct. 21.

Happy Birthday Matthew Macfadyen!

Today (October 17th) is Matthew Macfadyen's 37th birthday! Matthew, best known to us P&P Fans as Mr. Darcy of the 2005 Pride & Prejudice film, was born David Matthew Macfadyen in Great Yarmouth, Northfolk, England, UK in 1974 (37 years ago today).

Matthew Macfadyen returns as MI5 agent Tom Quinn for the final ever episode of Spooks

STRIDING purposefully out of the mist, former MI5 agent Tom Quinn comes in from the cold – for the last ever episode of spy drama Spooks.

Tom, played by Matthew Macfadyen, 37, quit as head of counter-terrorism group Section D seven years ago.

Viewers will have to wait until next Sunday to find out why Tom Quinn has returned!

The first trailer of  Carey Mulligan's new film, Shame, is now up online. Carey co-stars with Michael Fassbender (A Dangerous Method, Jane Eyre), in which she plays his younger sister Sissy. Also, an interesting movie poster is now up for the film, as you can see to your left here.

Another magazine cover for the lovely and beautiful Rosamund Pike, this time she covers the November 2011 issue of Town & Country magazine, which hits newsstands Thursday.

She's currently filming One Shot with Tom Cruise in Pittsburgh, but she has two new movies opening two Fridays in a row this month starting with the comedy The Big Year (with Steve Martin, Jack Black, and Owen Wilson) this Friday, October 14th!

Next Friday, her other new spy comedy film, Johnny English Reborn (with Rowan Atkinson, Gillian Anderson, and Pierce Brosnan) opens in theaters in wide release!

Casting News: Talulah Riley cast in a new film 'The Liability'

Deadline reports that Talulah Riley will be co-starring in a new film titled The Liability.

“a darkly comic road trip taken by an aspiring hit man and a veteran assassin who hates proteges and dreams of retiring. They come across a beautiful and deadly female vigilante who forces them to pool their resources to survive.”

The film is to be directed by Craig Viveiros and also stars Peter Mullan and Tim Roth. Filming is said to be in the UK.

Book Review: Jane Austen Made Me Do It

I got my advance reader's copy (ARC) about almost two weeks ago or so of Jane Austen Made Me Do It: Original Stories Inspired by Literature's Most Astute Observer of the Human Heart edited by Laurel Ann Nattress of Austenprose. In her first published novel, in which she compiled and edited a short story anthology of 22 short stories by 24 of the most talented writers in the Austen genre. All twenty-four authors were personally selected by Laurel Ann from a diverse range of writing backgrounds and interests including: popular Austenesque fiction, best-selling literary fiction, historical fiction, romance, mystery, contemporary chick-lit, paranormal, and one new debut voice, a grand prize winner.   

While I've mostly done P&P/Austen related and (you can read more of my film reviews in my Movies Blog), this is actually my very first book review as Ashley (my fellow blog contributor here at the P&P Blog) does most of the P&P/Austen related

Today is the big released day for the new Jane Austen inspired and tribute novel, Jane Austen Made Me Do It: Original Stories Inspired by Literature's Most Astute Observer of the Human Heart edited by Laurel Ann Nattress (of Austenprose). It's a fantastic book! I had the pleasure and honor of getting an ARC (Thank you Laurel Ann and Random House Publishing Group) of it! I will be posting my book review of JAMMDI in a bit. Jane Austen Made Me Do It (by Ballantine Books) is now available in all bookstores and online retailers around the country. Go get your copy! 

Jane Austen Made Me Do It is a short story anthology of 22 short stories by 24 of the most talented writers including Laurie Viera Rigler (author of Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict, & Rude Awakenings of a Jane Austen Addict), which I had the pleasure of interviewing her here last December 2010), Monica Fairview, Amanda Grange, Alexandra Potter, Pamela Aidan, and Jane Odiwe to name some.

Carey Mulligan to receive a Supporting Actress Award at Hollywood Film Awards!

Carey Mulligan co-stars in Shame. In theaters December 2nd!

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Carey Mulligan will receive an honor (and award) from the The 15th Annual Film Festival and Hollywood Film Awards, where she'll be honored with a Hollywood Supporting Actress Award for her recent supporting roles in  Drive (with Ryan Gosling) and the upcoming Shame (with Michael Fassbender) films.

Director Nora Ephron to direct a film version of 'Lost In Austen'

A film version of Lost in Austen has been in development for a while and British director Sam Mendes has been attached to direct it, but there wasn't any news of when it'll happen and start production until now. Variety reports that director Nora Ephron (Julie & Julia, Sleepless in Seattle) will direct “Lost in Austen,” a film adaptation of a cult British TV series that aired on the ITV network back in 2008. The plot involves a 21st century London girl (who’ll be a New Yorker in the film), who magically switches places with the heroine of Jane Austen‘s “Pride & Prejudice,” Elizabeth Bennet, and tries to ensure that events unfold as in the novel, but soon finds herself falling for the handsome but surely Mr. Darcy.

The original ITV miniseries of the same title (Lost In Austen) was written by Guy Andrews. The LIA 2008 cast included Jemima Rooper as Amanda Price, Gemma Arterton as Elizabeth Bennet, Alex Kingston and a pre-”Downton Abbey” Hugh Bonneville as her parents, and Elliot Cowan as Mr. Darcy.

Casting News: Jena Malone to play Carson McCullers in biopic 'Lonely Hunter'

According to Collider.com, Jena Malone has just been cast in a leading role as writer Carson McCullers in the upcoming feature film, the biopic Lonely Hunter based on the author's life story. Great casting! Wow, Jena looks a lot like her especially with bangs! Sounds like an interesting project that would get the talented and versatile Miss Malone noticed for next year's award season!

Underrated actress Jena Malone (Sucker Punch) is set to play southern author Carson McCullers in the biopic Lonely Hunter.  Written, produced, and directed by Deborah Kampmeier, the film will span 35 years of McCullers’ life and show how her writing helped her cope with crippling illness and torrid marriages.  Lonely Hunter will also “feature notable figures including her best friend Tennessee Williams, her protégé Truman Capote, her roommate Gypsy Rose Lee and collaborator Ethel Waters,” so start your fan-casting!

Malone’s other upcoming films include the love story Jack and Diane with Juno Temple, the indie drama For Ellen with Paul Dano, and The Wait with Chloe Sevigny.  Filming on Lonely Hunter is set to begin in spring 2012. 

In addition to those upcoming films, Jena Malone was recently cast in History Channel's miniseries 'Hatfields and McCoys'

The first trailer for one of Donald Sutherland's many upcoming films titled Man on the Train has been released and is now up online via First Showing and Tribeca Films. Watch: trailer for 'My Week With Marilyn' starring Michelle Williams and Judi Dench

The first trailer for Judi Dench's other new film this year titled My Week With Marilyn starring Michelle Williams (as Marilyn Monroe) and Judi Dench as Dame Sybil Thorndike has just been released (via Yahoo! Movies) Wednesday. The film opens in limited theatrical release November 4th and will expand soon after.

My Week with Marilyn centers on Colin Clark, an employee of Sir Laurence Olivier‘s, who documented the tense interaction between Olivier and Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams) during production of “The Prince and the Showgirl” during the late 1950s. Co-starring Eddie Redmayne, who plays Colin Clark, and Kenneth Branagh who plays Olivier, the picture also stars Dougray Scott, Julia Ormond, Derek Jacobi, Dominic Cooper, Toby Jones and Emma Watson.

Rosamund Pike: New Interviews and a cover girl of UK's InStyle Magazine's November 2011 issue!

Rosamund Pike is one super busy British actress in both the UK and Hollywood! She has two new comedy films out this month (The Big Year and Johnny English Reborn)! She has several new video interviews (via Digital Spy) promoting her new film, Johnny English Reborn (with Rowan Atkinson and Gillian Anderson, which will be in US theaters later this month, October 28th...looks like the theater release date has changed again for this movie. She also talked about her other upcoming films: One Shot (with Tom Cruise, which she is currently filming in Pittsburgh and you can see a link of candid pics of her seen walking around the city below), Wrath of the Titans (with Sam Worthington, which she will play Queen Andromeda and will be released next year, March 30th, 2012), and a new clip of The Big Year (with Owen Wilson, Jack Black, and Steve Martin, where she plays Owen Wilson's character's wife Jessica...and there's a Youtube clip link you can watch below as well. The new comedy film opens in theaters in wide release next Friday Oct 14th). In addition to all of that, Miss Pike is on the November cover of UK's InStyle Magazine (which you can see a sneak peek video, new RP photos and read excerpts of her new magazine cover interview in the compiled links of articles below). Not too mention, she has another film The Sea (with Rufus Sewell and Cirian Hinds) that she will start filming early next year after she finished filming One Shot. Plus on her IMDB filmography, there's a short film she was listed as part of that was just added and oddly titled The Organ Grinder's Monkey, which she co-starred with Kevin Spacey and Daniel Craig.

Anderson, Luke Evans, Ray Stevens, Logan Lerman, and Orlando Bloom) the world premiere of 'The Three Musketeers in 3D' at The Vue Westfield today October 4, 2011 in London, United Kingdom.

The Three Musketeers opens in UK Cinemas Oct. 12th and U.S. theaters Oct. 21st!

A little slow on P&P Actors News today, so I thought I'd keep you all entertain with posting more of my amateurish attempt on P&P fan manip arts...since I'm still in the mood for it, lol. I must say, Lady Catherine's advice had been beneficial (probably the only advice I'll ever follow from her, haha!) and I'm improving with it as I go along...still learning and practicing though. I've had a lot of fun doing these newer ones.

Watch him sing in Mrs. Palfrey and listen to him sing in Lullaby movies!), Rupert has two short films (he co-wrote and co-produced) titled The Suicide Brothers (2010 with Keira Knightley and Tom Mison co-starred with him) and Steve (2011) starring Colin Firth, Keira Knightley, and Tom Mison), which he also wrote, co-produced, and directed. Recently, Rupert Friend was honored a Crystal Image Award for his work on 'Steve', which is currently screening in various film festivals here in the U.S. and abroad.
