No BAFTA Win for Keira, Joe, and James

While Atonement got a staggering 14 Nominations, it only won 2 awards (Best Film and Best Production Design) from BAFTA last night. Unfortunately, Keira lost Best Actress to French Actress Marion Cotillard (La Vie En Rose) as does James McAvoy Best Actor to Daniel Day-Lewis (There Will Be Blood). Not too mention Joe Wright lost Best Director to Joel Coen, Ethan Coen (No Country For Old Men) and Saoirsi Ronan lost Best Supporting Actress to Tilda Swinton (Michael Clayton) and every other nominations.

What gives? Why nominate it with too many only to have it won just 2? The same thing with Golden Globe Awards, lead Atonement 7 and only came home with 2. I wonder if the same will happen with the Academy Awards later this month. *Sigh* I don't understand these award shows nor do I enjoy watching them, but whatever...glad Atonement didn't go home empty handed as that would been embarrassing with having to lead as many as 14 noms and winning nothing. At least with GG and BAFTA, Atonement took home the top prize. I hope the same thing happens with the Oscars. *Crossing fingers here, lol!* I'll say 2 is the magic # for Atonement on Awards night.

Anyway, Congratulations to Atonement cast & Crew for their 2 BAFTA wins!

I wish the cast and crew the best of luck for the upcoming Oscars!
