Tamzin Merchant joins Supergirl in recurring guest role

In the current season 2 of The CW's Supergirl, Tamzin Merchant (whose last TV series Salem was canceled by WGN America after its 3rd season and it recently ended last January 18th) randomly appeared in the second half of the show's second season. Tamzin plays a mysterious character named Lyra, a new love interest for Winn Schott (Jeremy Jordan). She first appeared in last week's Episode 13 - Mr. & Mrs. Mxyzptlk and this week's Episode 14 - Homecoming. Lyra is also said to be an alien from the planet Starhaven.

Supergirl airs on Mondays at 8/7c on The CW.

More info. on Tamzin's Lyra character in Supergirl below...

“In our world strong-willed women and women who are powerful in their own ways tend to have other things going on, so we find out that there are secrets,” Jordan told EW. “But for the first few episodes that we see Winn and Lyra, it’s more about discovering how their relationship fits into this new world that we’re discovering on Supergirl.”

And part of that discovery will involve Lyra joining Team Guardian on their missions and possibly causing a falling out between Winn and James (Mehcad Brooks). Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg also shared with EW, teasing there will be a big hour for Winn, James (Mehcad Brooks), and Lyra (Tamzin Merchant) in episode 16, as well as episode 18. “Winn, James, and Lyra have a really funny story in 18 too, where the three of them try crime fighting as a trio, which doesn’t necessarily go well. She kind of becomes the Yoko of the team.”
