TV Casting News: Kelly Reilly to star in new ABC limited series 'The Black Box'
Kelly Reilly has been cast in a lead role (in which she was the top choice too) as Elizabeth Black in a new ABC limited (13 episodes) drama series The Black Box, her first TV series in America!
The talented and versatile Miss Reilly (much like her former P&P co-stars Keira Knightley, Jena Malone, Carey Mulligan, and Rosamund Pike with several film projects each) is getting more noticed and on casting demand these days. Not only was she getting cast in a lot of films post Pride & Prejudice (be it on small, independent films such as Eden Lake with Michael Fassbender, The Spanish Apartment trilogy, and the upcoming A single Shot with Sam Rockwell to name a few or in big blockbuster, Hollywood films such as Sherlock Holmes 1 and 2 with Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law and Flight with Denzel Washington), she also previously starred (as well as guest starred/co-starred in various UK TV series and movies) in a successful TV series Above Suspicion, which started out as TV movie and turned into a TV series in the UK. Now, she has 6 upcoming films (A single Shot, Innocence, Calvary, Chinese Puzzle, Love is Strange, and Heaven is For Real), an in-development film (an English film adaptation of The Ice Princess...though I haven't heard any news update on this one if this was still being made or if Kelly is still attached to star on it...), and is going to star in her first U.S. TV series, The Black Box. Good for her! She's a very good actress and deserves to be in more TV and films.

Kelly Reilly To Topline ABC Series ‘The Black Box’, Simon Curtis To Direct
ABC has cast Kelly Reilly (Flight, Sherlock Holmes) as the lead in The Black Box, a 13-episode limited drama series written by The Relic and Mystic Pizza scribe Amy Holden Jones to air next year. Simon Curtis (My Week With Marilyn) will direct the project, executive produced by Jones; The L Word creator Ilene Chaiken, who serves as showrunner; X-Men director Bryan Singer; 3 Arts’ Oly Obst (The Invention Of Lying); and Anne Thomopoulos (Borgia).
The Black Box centers on Elizabeth Black (Reilly), a world-renowned neuroscientist who appears to have it all but is constantly haunted by her own struggle with mental illness. And that is not the only secret she’s kept locked away from her family and her new fiancé. Reilly was the top choice for the role, and after lengthy negotiations, ABC was able to lock in her and Curtis. READ MORE!Related article:
