Movie Casting News: Jena Malone to star as Johanna Mason in 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'!
According to Hollywood Reporter, Jena Malone (who was reportedly in the running for the same role recently) has been chosen to play Johanna Mason, a tribute in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (sequel to the box-office hit The Hunger Games), which means she'll co-star again with her former P&P Co-star Donald Sutherland (as President Snow) along with Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, and Elizabeth Banks. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be in theaters on November 22, 2013!
This is great news if she is officially cast (as she is said to be in early negotiations) in the sequel of this film as Jena will be perfect for this role (and will most likely return for the third and final film Mokingjay). She's an amazing, versatile, underrated actress who can play just about any role. So, yeah, let's hope she'll be officially cast as I'm more looking forward to seeing the sequel now of THG (loved the first movie too) with Jena and Donald Sutherland in the cast. May the odds be in Jena's favor! LOL!
Jena's a very busy lady doing a lot of TV and film projects for 2012/2013:
Lonely Hunter (2013)
A Doll's House (2012)
Ten Cent Pistol (aka The Go-Getters) (2012)
In Our Nature (2012)
The Wait (2012)
For Ellen (2012)
Hatfields & McCoys (TV mini-series) as Nancy McCoy (already aired, coming to DVD and Bluray July 31st!)
In the meantime, we got a new scripted series Dakota (on Wigs) starring Jena Malone, which premieres next Monday (7/9), and its 3 episodes will air on Mon, Wed and Fri of next week.

Jena Malone Chosen as Tribute for 'Catching Fire' (Exclusive)
While many in Hollywood are cutting out early for the holidays, it’s reaping day for Jena Malone.
The Sucker Punch actress is in talks to play snide tribute Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire, a key role that will be reprised in the trilogy’s third installment, Mockingjay.
Malone has the offer and is in early negotiations for the part, according to sources. The move nixes premature reports that pegged newbie actress-model Zoe Aggeliki as the frontrunner to play the ax-wielding former Hunger Games winner from District 7, who aligns with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) in their return to the arena for an all-stars death match.
The role requires a mix of wit and physicality. Though Mason enjoys some of the best one-liners in the Suzanne Collins novel, her first appearance finds her stripping out of her tribute costume in an effort to make Katniss uncomfortable.
The movie is heading for a late September start.
Malone, repped by Gersh and Hirsch Wallerstein, most recently appeared in History Channel’s hit mini-series Hatfields & McCoys.
