Jena Malone to star in a new scripted series in newly YouTube launched WIGS channel

Apparently Jena Malone has a new scripted series as Dakota (as this WIGS Sizzle Reel video has shown and previewed, no info yet if her character's name will be the title of the series as it appears the first 3 series are title characters, but we'll find out more details on Jena's new WIGS series in the coming months...) in the newly YouTube launched The WIGS channel (see WIGS logo to your left), a new YouTube channel producing high-end scripted series, short films, and docs. WIGS -- Where It Gets Interesting. Premiering May 14, 2012.

For the first time, YouTube is about to launch an entertainment network with real programming and real stars. The filmmakers debuted it yesterday on Avnet and Rodrigo Garcia at Google’s Brandcast event today in New York. WIGS is described as “a digital channel featuring original series and short films exploring female characters. The name actors already involved include Virginia Madsen, Stephen Moyer, Caitlin Gerard, Jennifer Garner, Alfred Molina, Julia Stiles, Sarah Paulson, and Jeanne Tripplehorn appear in the first three series. Directors include Betty Thomas, Paul Brickman, Lesli Linka Glatter, Walter Salles, and Amy Lippman.”  Basically, it’s Lifetime, on your computer.
WIGS will also feature documentaries, behind-the-scenes videos, and cutting-edge unscripted content, all starring female leads. WIGS will have its world premier in coming weeks:

Over the coming months, WIGS will be releasing content produced with a renowned group of writers and filmmakers. Speaking of Jena, as I've previously posted here, she has several upcoming films (for 2012 and 2013) include the lesbian love story Jack and Diane (as Susan) with Juno Temple, which will be released in theaters June 1st, the indie drama For Ellen (as Susan) with Paul Dano, which competed (in US Dramatic category) and premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival last January 21st and had screenings from Jan. 21, 23-27, A Doll's House (as Christine Linde) with Ben Kingsley, In Our Nature (previously titled Family Tree) with Gabrielle Union Lonely Hunter (as Carson McCullers), Mu (as Maura O’Halloran), and The Wait (as Angela) with Chloe Sevigny.  In addition to those upcoming films, Jena Malone co-stars in History Channel's scripted 3-hour miniseries 'Hatfields and McCoys' with Kevin Costner (her For The Love of The Game co-star), which will premiere on Memorial Day (May 28th).
