Added sources/links to where I found the Downton Abbey stills featuring Penelope Wilton featured here as I forgot to include them on this post the first time I posted this. Thanks a lot to Charleybrown (of Enchanted Serenity of Period Films) for commenting here and asking me where I found those images and Michelle for the link to Charleybrown's awesome blog about period films (bookmarking this blog and linking it here as I love period films!). I've added a few more stills of PW (with the link to the source, of course!) below...

  3. Jeane, I'm not sure where you found those images but I know that I have them posted on my blog and obtained them with a request to link back to their original source.

I do hope you enjoy the series as it is first-rate!

  4. Hi Charleybrown,

First of all, thank you for the comment and for asking me where I got those images. I found them in various sites and I forgot to post the sources/links to where I found them (my bad...I usually post them here as you can see/read from my previous posts), which I've now updated the post above and also added the link to your awesome blog that Michelle posted here in her comment, for more info on DA.

Btw, I love your blog about period films. I love period films (as I've mention above in the post) in general and your blog is just fantastic! I must say, you've done an excellent job on it! I've bookmarked it (and will follow it to get updated on my favorite period dramas)! A lot of my favorite period films are listed in your blog too. Love it! Keep up the great work you do! :-)

As for DA, I very much look forward to seeing it next month! :-)

  5. Hi Jeane! Thanks for your kind comment! I'm always pleased to meet other fans of period films and if you'll notice, although I have a lot of them listed, oddly enough, I don't have P&P 2005 posted as a separate entry. I've been meaning to add it eventually so when I do, I'll just have to include a link to your blog!

Thank you for referring to ES for Downton. I was lucky enough to receive extra info about the series as well as having a friend kindly post promo pics on her site and allowing me to share them. Just so you know, the original source for her pics is here: http://fragilidad.ucoz.com/photo/

    Cheers!

  7. Charleybrown, you're welcome and thanks as well. :-) Yeah, I noticed P&P 2005 is missing in your list. I thought maybe you have the P&P 1995 only to represent all the P&P adaptations in general. Awesome, I look forward to seeing the P&P 2005 entry in your blog! Obviously, it's my most favorite P&P version, lol.

By the way, I love a lot of period films from your list under your top 30 (as well as top 150) including "The Young Victoria," "North & South," "Wives and Daughters," "Love In A Cold Climate," "Little Dorrit," "An Education," "Cranford," "Becoming Jane," "The Magic of Ordinary Days," "Nicholas Nickleby," "The Count of Monte Cristo, "A Knight's Tale," "Sense & Sensibility '95," "Emma '95, "Little Women," "Doctor Zhivago, "Love Comes Softly, "King Arthur, The Pillars of The Earth, and many more as I've seen them all (well the ones I've listed here and most of the ones you listed). Did you noticed that a lot of these period films had the actors from P&P 2005 starring/co-starring on them? (you may have noticed that I have listed them in my 2-part movie recommendations here). Interesting, isn't it? Gotta love the P&P 05 actors as they are always starring/co-starring in period films I love, lol.

  8. Hi Jeane! Sorry I took long to reply as I've been busy with too many things! I did notice a lot of the actors show up in various films! Glad to hear you like a lot of the same movies! Gotta run for now - I'm nowhere near ready for Christmas!
    Cheers!
