Carey Mulligan has picked up the gong for Breakthrough Actress at the Hollywood Awards - the first major ceremony of awards season.
The British actress plays the lead in An Education, the Nick Hornby film based on Lynn Barber's memoir, which also stars Emma Thompson and Rosamund Pike.
"I just met Hilary Swank. I'm in a little bit of a daze," Carey said on the red carpet.
She continued. "This is exciting. The photo bit is a little scary. The lights flash a lot and they made my eyes water, which is terrifying. But it's amazing."
