Post P&P and Atonement: What's Next for Joe Wright?

After two very recent successful and Oscar nominated films (2005's Pride & Prejudice and 2007's Atonement). You might ask, what's next from our favorite British film director Joe Wright? Well, JW will apparently go 'solo' in his next film project. He will be directing The Soloist (2008) (currently filming) starring Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. Interestingly enough, he will be working with a few of the same crew from his two previous films, cinematographer (Seamus McGarvey) and Production Designer (Sarah Greenwood) both from Atonement and the same Composer and Costume Designer from both Pride & Prejudice and Atonement (Dario Marianelli and Jacqueline Durran) are working with Joe in this film too. How cool! 8-) Now, I'm going to see this movie just because Joe Wright (along with a few of his P&P and Atonement crew) is directing it. I'm sure it'll be a great movie too. Besides he has two Oscar nominated/winner actors Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx. Sounds like another great movie. :)

P.S.
There's a rumor that P&P's Simon Hollander (Mr. Collins) mentioned in a recent interview (according to a poster at IMDB messageboard for The Soloist) that he was preparing for a role in this movie. Currently, he's not listed on IMDB listing (for The Soloist) yet nor it's confirmed, but we'll see and I'll keep you all posted on his casting on this film as soon as there are more news about this film. Hope it's true, as besides JW, he will be another reason to watch this film.

The film sounds great. It's freaky to imagine Robert Downey Jr. in a Joe Wright Film! Also I love Catherine Keener, and I think she's going to be great! Jamie Foxx is also going to be good!

  2. Hi, JW. Thanks for commenting. I can't wait to see this film myself. Joe Wright is becoming my favorite film director ever since P&P and I never had a favorite director before, lol.

Yeah, this film sounds like it's going to be a great one with very talented actors (Oscar Winner/Nominees) and an amazing director. Looking forward to this film whenever it's released. :)

  3. lol, yeah I don't have a solid favorite director, but I really like Joe Wright too. He's films so far, P&P and Atonement, have been great!

And I just noticed something about his films, their time periods start off at 1798 with P&P, in the 40s with Atonement, then in the 50's with The Soloist! and they going in in chronological order time wise! :P :)
