P&P Oscar Revisited: Keira Knightley and Pride & Prejudice's 2006 Memorable Oscar Moments

Whether Atonement cast & crew win or lose their 7 Nominations tonight, they were at least nominated and Keira Knightley got a nomination (Best Actress Performance in a leading role) for her amazing performance in Pride & Prejudice too in 2006 and though she didn't win, she at least was nominated and got to stand next to an Oscar life-size statue (see a pic of Keira from the 78th Oscar Nominees Luncheon on your left...Keira & Oscar were picture perfect, lol!) and had a luncheon class photo with her fellow Oscar Nominees in 2006.

While we watch the Oscars tonight with another Keira Knightley and Joe Wright's film (Atonement) being nominated for 7 Oscars. Let's look back and reminisced their first Oscar Nominated film, our very own favorite Pride & Prejudice and its 4 Oscar Nominations for...

1. Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role - Keira Knightley

2. Best Achievement in Art Direction - Sarah Greenwood (art director), Katie Spencer (set decorator)

3. Best Achievement in Costume Design - Jacqueline Durran

4. Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score - Dario Marianelli

Unfortunately, Keira and our beloved P&P lost all 4 nominations. Still, it didn't stop the film from being a box office hit with a worldwide total gross of over $121 million, fan favorite, and getting Keira Knightley more famous as does its director Joe Wright. Not too mention, Keira sizzled @ the Oscars with her dazzling burgundy silk-taffeta one-shoulder gown, designed esp. for her, which was sold in an online auction for STG4,301 ($A10,390) to fund relief work in East Africa, Britain's Oxfam charity. She may have lost @ the Oscars, but that night, she rocked the Oscar fashions and was one of the Best Dressed Oscar Nominees. Most people don't remember the winners anyway, but what they wore that night was what mostly everyone remember the most, lol!
