Atonement lead a staggering 14 BAFTA Nominations

Atonement got an astonishing 14 nominations!!!! Forget the Oscars, I'm rooting for Atonement to sweep the BAFTA.






Here are the 14 categories they are nominated for:

*Best Director - Joe Wright
*Best Adapted Screenplay - Christopher Hampton
*Best Leading Actor - James McAvoy
*Best Leading Actress - Keira Knightley
*Best Supporting Actress - Saoirse Ronan
*Best Music (Original Score) - Dario Marianelli
*Best Cinematography - Seamus McGarvey
*Best Editing - Paul Tothill
*Best Production Design - Sarah Greenwood/Katie Spencer
*Best Costume Design - Jacqueline Durran
*Best Sound - Danny Hambrook/Paul Hamblin/Catherine Hodgson
*Best Make Up and Hair - Ivana Primorac

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London, on 10 February.

Ok, while searching for news on the BAFTA nominations, I've just read on Variety.com that Atonement actually got 17 nominations!!!! Though most are reporting 14, but I love the 17 total nominations part from the Variety article.

"Atonement" has nods in every category for which it is eligible, but its clear overall lead is due to having four runners in the supporting actress race - Brenda Blethyn, Romola Garai, Saoirse Ronan and Vanessa Redgrave.


Congrats again to the cast and crew of Atonement (Keira, James, Saorsi, Joe, Dario Marianelli, etc.) for their 14 (or 17 ) nominations!!!!
