Happy Birthday Rosamund Pike!

Today (January 27th) is Rosamund Pike's 32nd Birthday. Born Rosamund Mary Elizabeth Pike in London, England, UK. Miss Pike is an only child, her parents are Julian and Caroline Pike. Her father Julian is a professional opera singer, whilst her mother Caroline is a concert violinist.

Happy Birthday Rosamund Pike!!!

aka Beautiful Jane Bennet
"Now, if every man in the room does not end the evening in love with you, then I have no judge of beauty." (Lizzie Bennet, Pride & Prejudice film)

"She is the most beautiful creature I have ever beheld." (Mr. Bingley, Pride & Prejudice film)
"Of course, it's my Jane who is considered the beauty of the county. I knew she could not be so beautiful for nothing." (Mrs. Bennet, Pride & Prejudice film)
Jane is the oldest Bennet girl, and she would have had  a lot of responsibility bringing up the younger girls, so she had a slightly sort of motherly instinct. But I didn´t want to play her as this very demure, slightly dull character. I wanted to play her as someone who laughs a lot. We want the whole Bennet family to be a family that laughs, a whole household  that´s filled with laughter and filled with movement.” (Rosamund Pike)
“Unlike Lizzie, Jane likes to think the best of people. She has found that the easiest way to get through life is to think that people are nice and good, and not to be suspicious about other people´s negative motives. Jane doesn´t have much pride or prejudice really. (Rosamund Pike)

Duo Extraordinaire: Team Wright and Knightley

Director and Oscar Nominated actress (for her Elizabeth Bennet role in P&P movie, which was directed by Wright) worked together in Focus Features' critically acclaimed and award winning Pride & Prejudice and Atonement films. Also, JW directed KK in her Coco Mademoiselle Chanel commercial and Women's Aid - Domestic Violence Ad 2009 PSA commercial. They might work together again soon...will it be "Anna Karenina" (they were once linked or said to be attached to a new adaptation of My Fair Lady, which JW was actually not attached to direct and Knightley was said to have dropped out, though she wasn't even confirmed to star on it...it still in development to this day) or another movie? We shall see, but I hope they'll work together again soon. They make such a great team and the successful results showed in those projects they've worked on.

In the meantime, here are some old, but still very interesting and fun to read JW and KK quotes from their interviews back in 2005 (while promoting P&P movie) I've compiled for you all to read and enjoy here.

Casting Rumors: Keira Knightley to star in 'Cosmopolis' film with Twilight's Robert Pattinson?

Elizabeth Bennet and Edward Cullen in Cosmopolis?

Keira Knightley is currently in rehearsals and is getting ready for her starring role in this weekend's West End production of Lillian Hellman's The Children's Hour (preview performances starts Jan. 22nd with opening night performances on Feb. 9th through April 30th) with Elizabeth Moss and Ellen Burstyn, but wide spread movie casting rumors about her being cast in a new film currently in development/pre-production (filming in May 2011 in Toronto and New York), Cosmopolis starring Robert Pattinson (Twilight movies) has been the talk all over the web this week with director David Cronenberg directing the film, who recently directed Keira in the upcoming film, A Dangerous Method (see First stills of Keira Knightley in 'A Dangerous Method' film).

This is very interesting because various movie websites were reporting this like it's official news, yet she's not confirmed, but with Cronenberg in the helm, she is likely to be cast in this film (we shall see) and she'll be done with The Children's Hour just before filming begins for this film. A Cosmopolis movie fansite (check it out! It's very informative and has updated news all about the film and they seemed to like KK there) was first to report this and noticed Keira's name added in the producer’s website (earlier in the week) and was the first to report about the casting changes for Cosmopolis film with this article: Out with Marion. In with Keira Knightley?

If you're confused about what I'm talking about here, lol...you can read more about this in the film stage article or here, as both sites explained the Cosmopolis casting confusion.

Colin Firth and 'The King's Speech' leads with 14 Bafta Nominations!!!

Colin Firth, who just won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture for his award winning film, The King's Speech this past Sunday (January 16th) gets another nomination for Leading Actor (which he won last year for A Single Man) and a total of 14 nominations for TKS (including Best Film, Director, and Actor) at the 2011 BAFTA, which was announced by P&P's Talulah Riley and Dominic Cooper this morning.

While Rosamund Pike and Carey Mulligan made the BAFTA Longlist, neither one made it to the shortlist of the final BAFTA nominations (and it seems Miss Pike Disappointed By Bafta Choices). Rosamund Pike's Made In Dagenham co-star Miranda Richardson and the film scored 4 nominations though. Talulah Riley's Inception film garnered 9 nominations. Meanwhile Lost In Austen's Gemma Arterton is nominated for Orange Wednesdays Rising Award. Read this article from BBC News about Baftas 2011: surprises and sure things, it mentioned Carey Mulligan's exclusion in the nomination as well as Sally Hawkins. Interesting no mention of RP, Paul Giamatti (who just won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical this past Sunday), and Barney's Version's snubbed after lots of mentions in the longlist...

Watch Dominic Cooper and Talulah Riley announce the nominations for the 2011 Orange British Academy Film Awards.
The nominations announcement was held at BAFTA's headquarters in Piccadilly. The introduction was made by Academy Chairman Tim Corrie and the nominees were announced by actor Dominic Cooper and actress Talulah Riley.
Updated 2/1/10

In Theaters Today: The Dilemma

In wide theatrical release today, The Dilemma starring Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Winona Ryder, and Jennifer Connelly. One of our Bennet girls, Talulah Riley (Mary Bennet) has a cameo role in this movie as a Concept Car Spokesmodel. Channing Tatum and Queen Latifah also co-star and directed by Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind and Apollo 13).

Unfortunately, there aren't any clips or still images that featured Talulah Riley in this movie that I could find or have seen from the official website (or any sites featuring the movie) and its TV spots commercials or its trailer, which you can see below. She must have had a very brief scene(s) in this movie...

Brief synopsis (via IMDB): A man discovers that his best friend's wife is having an affair.

Burning Palms: in theaters Friday and official trailer featuring Rosamund Pike

Burning Palms, one of Rosamund Pike's upcoming films slated to be released this year, is interestingly, going to be released tomorrow (January 14th) in a very limited theatrical release (along with her other film, Barney's Version, the film she's been getting rave reviews of). Burning Palms was screened last year at the 2010 Newport Beach Film Festival (April 23, 2010). A weird teaser trailer along with an interesting movie poster (see it to your left) was released last year. The official trailer (and a new poster) has now surfaced online and looks even more odd...but interesting cast including Rosamund, which you can see  her more in the trailer below as well as two more movie posters (one previously posted here)...

Burning Palms stars Rosamund Pike along with a large ensemble cast that includes familiar names such as Shannen Doherty, Zoe Saldana, Lake Bell, Nick Stahl, Dylan McDermott, Paz Vega, Jamie Chung, and Robert Hoffman.

Keira Knightley & Rupert Friend split now confirmed

The Previous rumors has come true (as they often do, unfortunately) that our favorite real-life P&P couple, Keira Knightley (25) & Rupert Friend (29) have split after being together for over 5 years. Various entertainment websites and gossip blogs are now reporting this including People, USA Today, MSNBC, and JustJared.com (read article below) to name a few. Apparently, Keira's own father, Will Knightley has confirmed the split to the British tabloid, the Sun. They previously co-starred in Pride & Prejudice (2005) film as Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Wickham and short films such as The Suicide Brothers and Steve.
The 25-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean actress met Rupert on the set of 2005’s movie adaptation of Pride & Prejudice

According to People, the couple broke up a few months ago. The split occurred shortly after Keira bought a house outside of Nice, France.

“Yes, they have broken up.” Keira’s father Will Knightley shared with the Sun. “But that’s the way things go, unfortunately. The only option is to get on with things.”
