Keira Knightley attended along with co-stars Michael Fassbender and Viggo Mortensen a gala screening of their film, A Dangerous Method held at The May Fair Hotel on January 31, 2012 in London, England.

A Dangerous Method opened in limited release (November 23rd) in U.S. theaters and had slow expanded in more theaters in December and January. It'll open in the UK Cinemas February 10th, 2012.

Talulah Riley's new film 'White Frog' to premiere and open at SFIAAFF30 in March

White Frog, one of Talulah Riley's upcoming films this year will world premiere on March 8th, 2012 and will be the opening film at the 30th San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival presented by CAAM (Center of Asian American Media). No theatrical release date as of yet for this film.

Talulah Riley plays Ms. Lee, a drama teacher/social worker in the indie film directed by Quentin Lee.

Speaking of Talulah, she hasn't tweeted on Twitter since December 29th when she replied to one of my tweets (@RileyTalulah: "@pandp2005 Thank you! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours xx"). It was very nice of her to reply (I like and admire her even more!) and wished me a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope she had a great one (both Christmas and New Year) too. She sure was very nice and friendly on twitter and has replied my tweets to her more than a few times. She's definitely one of the best and friendliest celebs to follow on Twitter. I've wondered what she's been up to and why she hasn't tweeted lately. Then, I've heard about the recent news about her sudden split from her husband Elon Musk and him announcing their split on twitter. That's cruel of him to announced their split on twitter (Poor Talulah! She deserves someone better! Hope she's ok...Though good for her for keeping quiet and not talking about her personal life on twitter)...it's a good thing she does not follow him (as she doesn't have to unfollow him) and from the TMZ article below, it looks like she was the one who filed for divorce before his announcement. Interesting turn of events...

The British "Pride and Prejudice" actress -- named Talulah Riley -- filed the papers on January 17th, citing "irreconcilable differences" ... one day before Musk publicly announced the couple's split on Twitter.

In a telephone interview with Forbes on the 18th, Musk -- worth a reported $680 million -- made it sound as though he was the driving force behind the divorce, claiming, "I still love her, but I’m not in love with her. And I can’t really give her what she wants.”

The Forbes headline reads, "Elon Musk to Divorce Wife" -- but clearly, Talulah beat him to the punch. So far, Elon has NOT filed divorce documents.

It's unclear who truly wished to end the relationship, or whether it was a mutual decision.

A first look and photo of Keira Knightley in her title character Anna Karenina costume has been floating around the net and also recent articles and scans from UK's Daily Mail and Empire Magazine has featured new articles about new film Joe Wright's Anna Karenina starring former Pride & Prejudice stars Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen along with Jude Law, Aaron Johnson, Olivia Williams, Kelly Macdonald, Emily Watson, and Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery. The nominations for the 84th Annual Academy Awards was just announced more than 2 hours ago this morning. Lots of snubs here and there and none of our P&P actors are nominated, but a few of their co-stars and films have been nominated in the following categories below.

But first, the 84th Academy Awards will be presented by Billy Crystal on February 26th on ABC.

And speaking of Oscar nominations, just have to mention here, Oscar Nominations flashback 6 years ago this month (Jan 31st), our very own favorite Pride & Prejudice film received four Oscar nominations, including one for its lead star Keira Knightley (Elizabeth Bennet) for Best Actress or Actress in a Leading Role and Dario Marianelli for Music (Original Score). Also, another P&P co-star scored an Oscar nod, Judi Dench for Actress in a Leading Role in Mrs. Henderson Presents. Joe Wright and the film got snubbed for Best Director and Best Picture noms. No win for any of their 4 noms and Reese Witherspoon won the Oscar for Actress in a Leading Role.

This Titanic period drama is one of 3 movies coming out of its 100th anniversary this year (including the threatrical re-release in 3D of James Cameron's mega blockbuster hit, the 1997's Titanic starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet on April 6th) and will air on April 12th on TV around the world to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the disaster.

Coming in April 2012 is the new four-part mini-series called 'Titanic'. Written and created by Oscar award-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey, Gosford Park), 'Titanic' will feature a whopping 89 main characters by following four separate, yet intertwined, narratives building to a dramatic climax. Dubbed as the 'television event of 2012', 'Titanic' has already been sold to 57 international countries worldwide and is set to broadcast around the world at the same time to coincide with the 100th Anniversary, the centenary of the disaster.

The four-part television drama will interweave multi-arc action, mystery and romantic plot lines over three episodes, featuring fictional and historical characters, before coming together in an explosive concluding episode. Each episode, except the last, will follow a variety of different characters told from each point of view that will culminate to a cliff-hanger as the ship begins to founder. The fourth and final episode will draw all of the stories together in a dramatic conclusion by showing which of the characters survives.

Must-See Movies 2012 starring Austen Actors

All these Austen Actors (from various and 6 different Austen adapted TV and films: Pride & Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Mansfield Park, Persuasion, and Northanger Abbey as well as other Austen inspired films: Becoming Jane, The Jane Austen Book Club, Lost In Austen, From Prada to Nada, etc.) all have new movies coming out this year. Usually, I would just post about the Must-See TV & films starring P&P (2005) Actors (as after all, this blog is all about them and the P&P movie I love so much) but I like most of these other Austen Actors (ie. Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, James McAvoy, Kate Winslet, Hugh Dancy, etc.) too. They are Austen related after all, and being a big movie aficionado that I am, I couldn't help but notice that a lot of Austen Actors are in so many new films coming out this year (even in the past and previous years). I always see trailers and TV spots whenever I watch a movie in theaters or on TV and online, and there's always at least one (or two) Austen actor starring or co-starring in a film or television show. So, I thought I'd (try to) compile here a list of AA actors with new films or TV Movies/mini-series that they're starring/co-starring that are coming out this year.

Here's a very long list starting with films (starring/co-starring our favorite Austen Actors) currently showing in theaters now (for instance, a well-known Austen actor co-stars in the current #1 film at the box-office in America, Contraband with Mark Wahlberg and has a new movie, Underworld: Awakening (Updated 1/22/12: Weekend Box Office – UNDERWORLD AWAKENING Leads with $25.4 Million via Collider) opening in theaters today as well...) to films coming out soon and are scheduled to be released every month of this year (except for October...though release dates are subject to change).

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards is on tonight (which just ended about 17 min. ago, actually...and on time too!) on NBC! Downton Abbey scored 4 Golden Globe Awards Nominations!

At the same time at around 9 PM ET, on a different channel (over an hour ago), Downton Abbey's (Penelope Wilton co-stars) Season 2, Episode 2 just aired on PBS Masterpiece Classic.

Movie Casting News: Jena Malone to star in 'Mu,' based on a Maura O'Halloran memoir

According to Movie Hole, Jena Malone will star in a new film titled, Mu, which is currently in development.

Jena Malone (“Donnie Darko”) will star in Noah Buschel’s bio on Maura O’Halloran, who at the age of 24 left her waitress job in Boston to go to Japan and be a Zen Monk. She died in a car accident age 27.

According to Collider, Tom Hollander (Hanna), Jonny Lee Miller (Dexter), and Sam Riley (Control) have joined Saoirse Ronan (Hanna) and Gemma Arterton (Prince of Persia) in Neil Jordan (Interview with the Vampire)‘s vampire movie Byzantium.

Ronanand Arterton play a daughter and mother who are vampires who arrive ina small 18th century British town. Ronan’s character begins arelationship with a young man (Caleb Landry Jones) who’s dying of leukemia, which in turn forces him to struggle with his mortality and her to question her immortality.

Daily Mail (who first reported this with the Gemma Arterton interview/article) doesn’t have any details on which character Tom will play, but has mentioned him in the cast:

The film — set in both the 18th centuryand the modern day — is not all glossy surface nonsense like theTwilight pictures. For starters, it has a compelling storyline and muchbetter actors, including Sam Riley, Daniel Mays, Jonny Lee Miller andTom Hollander.

Great to know that TH has a new film (other than his current TV series, Rev.) coming soon. Keira Knightley appeared on ABC's The View this past Tuesday (Jan. 10th) morning to promote her latest film, A Dangerous Method (and had been doing some media interviews currently as well...see/read a few of them below) as its US theatrical release expands throughout this month in more theaters.

A Dangerous Method is currently playing in select theaters here in the US and opens nationwide January 22nd. In the UK Cinemas, it opens Feb. 10th!

Keira Knightley: 'Sometimes I just sit on the bathroom floor and burst into tears'

It's a cold winter morning and Keira Knightley is sitting alone in the library of a central London hotel. She is close to the end of shooting her new film Anna Karenina, in which she stars opposite Aaron Johnson's Vronsky and Jude Law's Karenin. No, she confides, she hasn't shot the suicide sequence in the train station yet. That is a treat waiting in store for the final day of filming, just before Christmas.

Knightley is a disconcerting interviewee. She is very pretty in a sylph-like way. Still only 26, she is friendly, articulate and seemingly unguarded, but quickly makes it clear that there are certain no-go areas where interviewers are forbidden to tread. Miss Jean Brodie-like, she tells you primly that she does not want to discuss her beauty routine or her love life. She doesn't enjoy reading such tittle-tattle herself and insists that she doesn't "owe the public" details of who her boyfriend is. However, ask her anything related to her work and she will answer completely frankly. For the first few minutes of the interview, her arms are folded and her body language is defensive. Once she is in her stride, she relaxes.

It's clear that she'd much rather discuss Tolstoy than Milly Dowler. She's a big fan of War and Peace and used to love Anna Karenina, too, but is beginning to suspect that the Russian novelist had a hidden agenda when it came to his adulterous heroine. "I read the book when I was about 16 and absolutely loved it and thought it was so romantic," Knightley reflects on Anna Karenina. "But I then re-read it to do this [film]... it's interesting coming back to a book when you've read it as a younger person and then seeing it through very different eyes, because I never thought that Tolstoy hated her [Anna Karenina]. And you really think, 'My God, he hates her!'."

Back to what we are allowed to discuss: in playing Anna Karenina, she is following in the steps of two of cinema's greats – Greta Garbo and Vivien Leigh. Will she match up? Knightley parries the question, suggesting that the "beauty shots" are as much the responsibility of cinematographer Seamus McGarvey as they are dependent on her own looks. "He knows how to shoot me."
As for the rest, that (Knightley claims) is simply a matter of "a lot of lighting and a hell of a lot of make-up!". Read full article here!

Did you do a lot of research for the role?
I did about four months of reading just about as much as I could. I worked with [screenwriter] Christopher Hampton before -- he wrote the screenplay for "Atonement" -- so as soon as I knew I was going to do the film, I phoned him up and said, "Help!"
He basically handed me a pile of books and said, "Start reading."

You've been filming "Anna Karenina." Have you ever met a corset you didn't like?
(Laughs) Actually I'm not in a corset in that one, fortunately. I think Anna Karenina is one of the classic female roles; you can't exactly turn it down.

But you do tend to do a lot of costume dramas.
I think it's because I tend to like working in Europe and England, not for any other reason than it's close to my home ... The opportunity to play a character like Sabina Spielrein -- I'm not going to turn it down because it's a costume piece. I imagine it's a multitude of factors that have kept me in a corset.

One last thing: Could you have a more gorgeous smile?
Wow! Thanks, I've been told I have a horrible smile. I had a fashion photographer tell me once, "Remember never smile, it doesn't look good on you." It was when I was about 16. Every time I have my picture taken I think, "Oh God, I'm not going to smile. It looks horrendous." So thank you very much.

On similarities between Jude and Michael: "No! No. Jude's a proper actor — he's wonderful to work with. He's a proper actor, I mean they all are . . . Michael works in a much more muscular way. Everything turns into muscle memory. He works a script, and works a script. Jude does a lot of theater so he comes from the preparation side — like a rehearsal room. He's really open to it, and he asks a lot of questions on that day. He's just phenomenal. So no there aren't any similarities, but they're all very good actors."
On bring surprised by the amount of press the DM spanking scene received: "This time in New York, people aren't really talking about it. They are a little bit, but not as much as I thought that they would be. It goes to show how well the film's been received and how fascinating the subject matter is. That is an interesting part of it, and I was interested by it because I didn't understand why people would want to do that or what the vibe is and what she was getting out of it — the fact that the subject itself is so fascinating. What's more shocking about the character is what's going on in her head rather than the spanking scene."
On cracking up while working with Steve Carell: ""He's just lovely. He's such a lovely man. I was quite frightened, because I haven't done comedy before really. I was kind of going, 'It's terrifying, I don't know how to do it, I don't even want to do it!' He was such a sweetheart."
On finishing up Anna Karenina: "I wrapped before Christmas. They've got, I think five more days to go. They're going to Russia for five days. Yeah, it's pretty much in the bag."
On working with Joe Wright for the first time: "We do have a shorthand, but it doesn't get easier. Neither of us are people that are looking for the easy option. We're always looking for something that's going to be more difficult or more challenging. Taking on Anna Karenina is a certainly massive challenge. Partly because it's an 820-page book and you're trying to get it down to, well, a 130-page screenplay."

And while Knightley speaks with an accent she says is "mid-Atlantic, with a Russian blush" in Joe Wright's upcoming "Anna Karenina," she and the rest of the cast -- Jude Law, Aaron Johnson, Matthew Macfadyen, Olivia Williams and Emily Watson -- will be using their native English accents for the film. The director had hinted he was going to ditch attempts at a Russian accent last spring, and while purists may be fixated on that point, Knightley teased that it is just a small part of a much bigger vision that will give an "Anna Karenina" unlike anything we've seen before.

"He's got a very different concept than anything that's been done before, I'm only going to say that because I'm pretty sure they're going to start releasing things soon about the concept, so you'll get to see it," the actress said. "I'm not going to try and describe what it is, but it's a much more theatrical version of the piece than has been done before, and I was really excited by that."

New 'The Mystery of Edwin Drood' stills featuring Tamzin Merchant

The Mystery of Edwin Drood starring Matthew Rhys (The Edge of Love), Freddie Fox (The Three Musketeers 3D, Any Human Heart), Tamzin Merchant (P&P 2005's own Georgiana Darcy, Jane Eyre), Rory Kinnear (Women In Love), and Julia McKenzie (ITV's Miss Marple) premieres as a two-part period drama adapted from the novel by Charles Dickens in the UK's BBC Two (for those lucky UK fans) next Tuesday January 10th and Wednesday January 11th, whereas here in the US, it premieres 3 months later on April 15th on PBS Masterpiece Classic. Unfortunately, no Youtube preview trailer available yet, but If you live in the UK, you can see the preview clips for Episode 1, filming in Rochester, and Matthew Rhys "Becoming Jasper."

Edwin Drood's 17-year-old fiancée is starting to have reservations about their long-standing betrothal.

Since becoming an orphan years ago her home has been the Nun’s House in Cloisterham. She has regular music lessons with choirmaster John Jasper, who she knows harbours inappropriate desires for her.

Tamzin’s breakthrough role was in the 2005 big-screen adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Since then she’s appeared in many films and TV dramas, including Jane Eyre, The Tudors and DCI Banks.

Interesting Edwin Drood/P&P connection: lead stars Tamzin Merchant and Freddie Fox (who's older sister Emilia Fox played Georgiana Darcy in the P&P 1995 miniseries starring Colin Firth & Jennifer Ehle) are now dating in real-life, after meeting on the set of Edwin Drood.

A Sussex actress, who is appearing in a new Charles Dickens adaptation, is supporting a Kent-based African charity.

Tamzin Merchant has become a patron of Build Africa, based in Tunbridge Wells, which works in rural areas of Uganda and Kenya.
Ms Merchant plays Rosa Budd in The Mystery of Edwin Drood on BBC2 next week.

The bicentenary of Dickens' birth will be marked on 7 February. The Mystery of Edwin Drood was his final novel.

Must-See TV & films 2012 for P&P Actors

It's the New Year! You know what that means, right? New movies to look forward to from our P&P actors! Here are a list of some P&P '05 alumni with a new movie starting this Winter/Spring through Summer/Fall (from January to December) of 2012.

But first...

Looks Like 2012 will be a big year for a lot of our favorite P&P actors from the 2005 film. First of all, we have a P&P reunion with the main leads Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen along with their director Joe Wright in the upcoming and much anticipated new film adaptation of Anna Karenina. You know, we'll be talking about it a lot here as soon as more news and info is released for that film. You've been forewarned, lol...Also, Keira Knightley has another new film, Seeking a Friend for the end of the World, a non-period drama for a change, with Steve Carell, which will be released on April 20th before AK film. Donald Sutherland has lots of new films including The Hunger Games on March 23rd, the first film of the series adapted into films. Rosamund Pike, once again, has a new film, Wrath of the Titans on March 30th with Sam Worthington (who previously co-starred with Keira in Last Night, last year). Judi Dench has two new films, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel with another P&P co-star Penelope Wilton (who herself has her popular Emmy Award winning series, Downton Abbey's Season 2 premiering in the U.S. this month, January 8th) in May and a new Bond 23 film, Skyfall with Craig Daniel as Bond, which will focused on her character M (so that means will be seeing more of her in this film!) and will be in theaters November 9th. Kelly Reilly has two new films, Flight with Denzel Washington and Edwin Boyd with Scott Speedman (who previously co-starred with Rosamund Pike in last year's Barney's Version). Talulah Riley has a few new films, The Knot, White Frog, and The Liability. Jena Malone has several new films including Lonely Hunter, where she plays a lead role and a TV miniseries, Hatfields & McCoys. Tamzin Merchant has a TV miniseries, The Mystery of Edwin Drood premiering on PBS Masterpiece Classic on April 15th. And Carey Mulligan has The Great Gatsby with Leonardo DiCaprio (who previously co-starred with Judi Dench in J. Edgar last year and Inception with Talulah Riley a year or two before that...) in theaters Christmas day.

Plus more P&P 05 actors with new films for this year, 2012 (and 2013) not mention above or listed here (too many to list), but these ones are the ones you'll be hearing/reading here the most!

With Christy and Ashley's help and their contribution to this blog with their own posts, Book Reviews (Ashley), and Author Interviews (Christy), which I greatly appreciated (thanks ladies!), I had an absolute great time posting, updating, and keeping this Blog and P&P movie alive all year. Film Review: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

I recently saw Kelly Reilly's recent released film, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, where she reprises her Mary Morstan role (from the first Sherlock Holmes film) and once again, she co-starred with Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, and Rachel McAdams.

I recently saw Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (sequel to 2009's Sherlock Holmes <--- click the link to read my review!) and I must say, I loved and enjoyed watching it as much as I loved and enjoyed watching the first one. Great movie! It had all the action (plenty more in this sequel than the first), humor (mostly from Robert Downey Jr.'s Sherlock Holmes), fun and mysterious games between Holmes and Moriarty, great chemistry and banter between Holmes and Watson, slow-mo fight scenes, and more! This film was a lot more fun to watch too this time around. I've been waiting to see this sequel since I've heard of it being made. It was more than I expected and it didn't disappoint!

The awesome and very talented Robert Downey Jr. is back reprising his witty and very clever, genius hero Sherlock Holmes character. He was just fun and amazing to watch in this film, as usual. I love RDJ! He's such a great actor and one of those few who are just great at what they do no matter what role he plays, he's always good. Jude Law's back as well as Dr. John Watson along with two other familiar faces from the first film such as Rachel McAdams (who interestingly appeared in quite a small role, a lil' more than her supposedly brief cameo role for this film at the beginning, but her fate was left somewhat ambiguous...I wanted to see more of her though...still nice to see continuity and her) as Irene Adler and Kelly Reilly (even though she, again, didn't have a lot of screen time like the first movie, but unlike the first movie, she did appear a bit more in some important and interesting scenes and had more to do in this one. Not too mention, her character was pivotal and quite useful to Holmes and Watson towards the end...which had a very interesting twist to it) as Mary Morstan Watson, who played Law's character Watson's love interest in the first film. Their characters' wed in the second film with an interesting wedding scene where Watson, the groom and Holmes, the best man were not quite dressed up appropriately for the wedding, lol. Thankfully, the wedding ceremony took place without any odd incident for the newlyweds.

Film Review: The Three Musketeers 3D

Ok, we (as in P&P Blog's Jeane, Christy, Ashley) all saw The Three Musketeers 3D film starring Matthew Macfadyen about a couple months ago or so when it was released, but have not been able to post our reviews here as we've been busy with so many things including posting here a few Author Interviews (with giveaways) and this holiday season and just now finally got to post our combine reviews for this film here.

Film Review: The Three Musketeers 3D by Ashley Visco
I. Am. BIG. On. Books. Particularly, classic literature. Butsurprisingly, The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas is something I'venever taken up reading. Due to my ardent love for anything over onehundred years old, my interest was instantly peaked by a new adaptationof this famous novel-not to mention the fact that Matthew Macfadyen(the man we all know and love!) would be playing what he called 'theJames Bond' of that time period. However, I did have my doubts. "It'sin 3D? What if it looks all weird?" or "Orlando Bloom, a villain?" werethe kinds of skeptical questions constantly popping in and out of mybrain (along with a frequent "Will Matthew get enough screen time?!").But as I watched more and more interviews, behind-the-scenes videos,and sneak peeks my wavering worry gradually uplifted into excitedanticipation, leading up to one big heck of a bang once I actually gotto the theater.

This obsessed-with-all-archaic girl absolutely loved this modern takeon a well-known story. The acting was great (particularly Matthew's, Ithought-but perhaps I have a biased opinion…), the action exciting andcaptivating, the jokes actually laugh-out-loud worthy, and thecinematography absolutely beautiful. And then there was the 3D. Far toooften, movies nowadays are advertised as being in SPECTACULARTHREE-DIMENSION! So you go to the movie theatre, stick on your stupidglasses…and realize that it looks exactly the same. But The ThreeMusketeers was actually enhanced by the 3D! Everything was more vivid, and the images more sharp, surprisingly increasing the movieexperience tenfold! It looked as though the musketeers were actuallylunging they're swords through the screen! (And I didn't even see it inImax!) Another big worry was that Matthew would have to-yet again-bethe saving grace of his film, because all the other acting would beawful. Again, another pleasant surprise! I enjoyed each and every oneof the characters and thought them very believable. All but MillaJovovich (sorry to those who strongly disagree). Although I may just bejealous that she got to snog Matthew's face off in the opening scene…But the musketeers, I loved! Matthew, Ray Stevenson, and Luke Evans Ithought worked fabulously together, along with the young (but verytalented!) Logan Lerman.

It may not have been a straitlaced adaptation of classic literature,but it certainly gave a famous novel a lovely modern twist that justmay appeal to this generation, and perhaps grant to all the stubbornyoung a new respect for literature. I for one will be reading AlexandreDumas's novel very soon.

Oh, and Matthew could have had more screen time…

Film Review - The Three Musketeers 3D by Christy Farmer

Dateline: Saturday Morning (Six months earlier)Facebook is most amusing on a quiet Saturday morning as I wait for my family to wake up. Given my affection for all things Darcy and the warm affection that I hold for the Devoted Fans of Pride and Prejudice group that I now refer to as my "Darcy Friends", I was most delighted to see the first photos of Matthew Macfadyen as "Athos" in the upcoming Three Muskeeters 3D.

The morning went something like this...

The family awakes to begin a new day as I serve breakfast. Such is my enthusiasm; the conversation that morning began something like this...

Me: "I want to go see the new Three Musketeers movie!"

My husband: "I've never known you to show much interest in Three Musketeers!"

Me (Grinning): "OH! But I do now!"

My husband is right. Even though I am familiar with the Alexandre Dumas' classic, it is not one that I would call a favorite. The appeal of this film? Matthew Macfadyen.

(*THUD*)

Matthew Macfadyen's voiceover opens the film and I am spellbound as I sense a familiar presence with the person masked in armor in the water...Sure enough, it is Matthew Macfadyen as Athos!

(*Thud* Indeed!)

Simply put...it is a wonderful film! Why?

This is D'artagnan's story to tell. The film opens to see young D'Artagnan with humble beginnings, the most supportive of parents, and he is full of ambition as he leaves home for Paris to become a Musketeer.

Young D'Artagnan arrives in Paris. There is an immediate altercation concerning his horse "Buttercup" and in short order of events challenges others to no less than three duels and all done before 2 P.M.

Among his challengers? The Three Musketeers!

Yes, I am a huge fan of Matthew Macfadyen and he gives a wonderful performance as Athos. Yet, D'Artagnan (Played by Logan Lerman) steals the show. Action packed throughout, D'Artagnan is full of ambition and youthful energy. What is perceived as cockiness at the beginning of the film turns into well-earned confidence in the end. Outstanding Performance!

The Three Musketeers as a group are fun, entertaining, and great performances by all!D'Artagnan steals this show and young ladies be warned, he may also steal your heart.

Film Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Stars!

Film Review: The Three Musketeers 3D by Jeane

I must say that this movie was good, but not great. I was disappointed that it wasn't an amazing movie that I expected it to be as I had high expectations for this film especially with such talented ensemble cast and the director who directed RE movies that I've enjoyed watching. I guess I expected too much. Still, It was good and I enjoyed watching this film for what it was. It was fun and entertaining to watch though. Matthew Macfadyen as Athos was the highlight and the best thing to watch for me in this film. I loved and enjoyed watching every scene he was in and hearing his beautiful voice as the narrator of this film. I was pleasantly surprised that in the opening scene (and the first 5 minutes), the first thing I heard was his beautiful voice (as a narrator in this film) and first character/musketeer I've seen was his character, who leads the 3 Musketeers. I thought that was very cool! Matthew Macfadyen was excellent in this film. He did great in his narration (kudos to the director and producers for letting him narrate in this film...his voice is just beautiful to listen to!), acting, and fight scenes. I loved his one-liners in this film too such as "D'Artagnan, you want to be a musketeers? This is your chance." "It was an off-day" and "Round Two." and the way he said "Bukingham," sounded like "Wickham" (as in Mr. Wickham of P&P movie), lol...

Visiting the Inspirations behind Pride and Prejudice by Olivia Lennox

For anybody visiting England, traveling to Jane Austen’s birthplace and other nearby locations is both a fascinating and insightful experience for any Pride and Prejudice fan. The locations where Jane Austen lived and worked provided much of the inspiration that enabled her to pen such a masterpiece, and seeing these for yourself is a memorable and rewarding experience.

Nestled away in the quiet English countryside, just outside the town of Basingstoke in Hampshire, is the leafy village of Steventon, where Jane Austen was born and raised. Steventon provided Austen with much of her inspiration for Pride and Prejudice, which she wrote whilst living there. When Jane Austen was born, in 1775, stage coaches to London regularly stopped by on the Winchester Road, formerly Popham Lane, where the young writer would walk with her father and soak in the inspiration provided by the village and its regular visitors.

Although Pride and Prejudice was not published until much later, Steventon and the active social life that Jane enjoyed there provided much of the inspiration for the novel. Jane was a very sociable girl, and regularly attended local gatherings and also traveled to nearby Basingstoke, before retiring back to the family’s 17^th century rectory on where she wrote her notes and began work on the book that was destined to become such a classic.

Visiting Steventon

Steventon is a must see location for any Pride and Prejudice fan visiting England, and is the perfect starting point for seeing the places where she lived and worked. Here you can walk in the same footsteps as the young novelist. Jane was a keen walker, much like Elizabeth Bennett in Pride and Prejudice, and visitors to Steventon can meander down the lanes and take in the sights and atmosphere of the village just as Jane did two centuries ago.

Steventon is a picturesque place, where little has changed in the last two hundred years. The fields where Jane’s father grew potatoes are still there, where the young novelist would have enjoyed playing as a child, and even the original church, St. Nicholas, much visited by Jane and her family, is still standing. Many of the gravestones precede Jane’s birth and a visitor can imagine how the young writer would have walked through the cemetery looking for names to inspire her many famous characters. The local pub, the Wheatsheaf Inn, used to be where Jane and her father collected their post and is the perfect place to stop for some refreshments and reflect on the sights of the village.

While the family home and its traditional furniture are no longer standing - her original home was demolished not long after she died - remnants of the seven-bedroom rectory still exist, with the original railings, which circled the wooden water pump that served the family, still visible. The village is very welcoming to visitors too - the locals are much used to people wanting to savor the birthplace and original home of the Pride and Prejudice author, and are most helpful in pointing out places of interest. For any fan, Steventon is the ideal place to start a Jane Austen tour. Not only can you savor the sights of the village where the young author grew up and wrote her famous classic, but also it is very close to other must see destinations.

Moving On

Several other key locations played an important part in Jane Austen’s incredible life, and visiting these is easily done from Steventon. Just over 20 miles to the southeast is the village or Chawton, where Jane spent the last years of her life. Her home is still standing and serves as the Jane Austen Museum, where visitors can see some of the author’s own possessions, , and read personal correspondence written by Austen herself.

The cathedral city of Winchester is 15 miles to the southwest of Chawton and is another essential location for any Pride and Prejudice fan interested in the life of the author. Jane moved to Winchester from Chawton only in the last few months of her life. Here she died, at the tragically young age of 41. She was buried in the grounds of the cathedral and her grave is a popular location for many fans who wish to pay their respects and remember how much she gave the world of literature in such a short lifetime.

While former Pride & Prejudice stars Keira Knightley, Matthew Macfadyen, and director Joe Wright are currently filming their new film, Anna Karenina, unfortunately, no on set photos (even papz) available anywhere, no theatrical release date (other than sometime later in the second half of 2012), or no other important updates from filming and on the set gossip with our trio has surfaced online as of yet. However, Focus Features (Pride & Prejudice and Atonement), who is distributing it domestically, just released the synopsis (via Collider) for Anna Karenina along with another new Keira Knightley film, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.

Updated 12/30/11: Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery (a frequent co-star of P&P 05 actors) just mention in a new Collider "Downton Abbey" interview/article that she's indeed cast in Anna Karenina (no mentioned of what character she's playing though) and here's the part where she mentioned it as well as the movies and miniseries that she had previously worked with P&P actors and director Joe Wright (FYI: she was in Return to Cranford with Judi Dench and Claudie Blakley, Hanna with Tom Hollander and director Joe Wright, Downton Abbey with Penelope Wilton, and now Anna Karenina with Keira, Matthew, and Joe Wright)...

DOCKERY: Yes, I’d love too. I really would love too. I love America and I hope that the success of Downton Abbey may open some doors for us. I’m actually not available at the moment because I’m doing a part in a Joe Wright film. He’s doing an adaptation of Anna Karenina, which is another period piece. I have some lovely scenes to do with Keira Knightley.

Here's an update of Anna Karenina's confirmed cast (as listed above)...and now includes Ruth Wilson and Emily Watson. In addition, Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery (who had a cameo on JW's recent Hanna film) is said (and is listed on IMDB) to be playing Princess Betsy, but Working Title Films (who is producing this film, had previously listed Andrea Riseborough as playing Princess Betsy, but it seems she's no longer in the cast) now has updated/listed Ruth Wilson playing Princess Betsy. Confusing much? lol...we shall see when we hear more info about their characters and their confirmation soon. ~~For now, I'll go with Ruth Wilson as Princess Betsy as listed on Working Title's website (as IMDB is often edited out like Wikipedia...though~~ someone said at the AK IMDB board that she's playing Princess Betsy Tverskaya as revealed by herself in The London Evening Standard...~~so, who knows?~~ and Michelle Dockery herself confirmed it in a new Collider interview here!)

Box Office Weekend: Sherlock Holmes 2 tops its weekend debut with $40M!

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows starring Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Kelly Reilly, Noomi Rapace, Rachel McAdams, Jared Harris, and Stephen Fry lead the weekend on top with $40 million from 3,703 locations.

According to Box Office Mojo, Sherlock Holmes 2 was down from its predecessor, the original Sherlock Holmes, which made $62.3 million over Christmas weekend in 2009. Distributor Warner Bros. Pictures is reporting that the audience was 59 percent male and 50 percent under the age of 35, and that it received an "A-" CinemaScore.

Weekend Report: Box office was down again thanks to middling performances from Sherlock Holmes and Alvin and the Chipmunks. One bright spot, though, was a strong IMAX opening from the latest Mission: Impossible... FULL STORY

Nevertheless, a #1 is still a #1 whether it strongly opened box-office wise or just opened soft on its debut weekend (compared to The Three Musketeers, which unfortunately, did very poorly and only debuted at # 4 on its opening weekend with $8.7 M in 3,017 theaters, Sherlock Holmes 2 still did very well and managed to be #1 for its opening weekend!)...

Happy 236th Birthday Jane Austen!

Re-posting this here (~~slightly~~ edited), from my similar post in 2009 (since I can't top, think of anything new or better to write than what I wrote two years ago, lol) for this very special occasion, a birthday tribute post to the lovely, genius and way ahead of her time, beloved English novelist, the one and only Jane Austen.

Remembering and celebrating her birthday today, Jane Austen, the woman who wrote the original Pride and Prejudice novel (which had been made into several TV and Film adaptations including the 2005 film, Pride & Prejudice), which was her first (can you believe unsuccessful?!) submission to a publisher back in 1797 (214 years ago) titled "First Impressions" (later changed to "Pride and Prejudice"). She revised "First Impressions" and published it entitled "Pride and Prejudice" in 1813 (198 years ago!).

Jane Austen was born on this day back on December 16th, 1775 (she would've been 236 years old!!! today...) to the local rector, Rev. George Austen (1731-1805), and Cassandra Leigh (1739-1827). She was the 7th child amongst 8 children. She had one older sister, Cassandra.

Her only six published novels (Pride and Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility, Mansfield Park, Emma, Persuasion, and Northanger Abbey) were all popular (esp. Pride and Prejudice, of course) and made into several TV and film adaptations for over 72 years (since 1938) to this day.

Without her, P&P wouldn't have existed (nor this blog)...we wouldn't have read P&P novel or seen various TV and film adaptations including the Oscar nominated 2005 film version, which is my absolute (and all-time) favorite film adaptation based on this classic novel. So, yeah, JA rocks (and so ahead of her time) deserves to be recognized and remembered today on her birthday.

The Prince Regent was such a fan of her work that he asked her to dedicate her next book to him, which she did.
In July of 2002 a first edition of "Pride and Prejudice" was auctioned and sold for £40,000, nearly doubling the previous record set for an Austen novel in 2001 of £23,500.
Her books have never been out of print since they were first published.
Between 1900 and 1975, there were more than 60 radio, television and stage productions of Austen novels. The first film adaptation was in 1940.
Her brother Edward's descendant married the daughter of Louis Mountbatten (aka Lord Mountbatten; assassinated in 1979 by the IRA), who in turn was a descendant of QueenVictoria.
Anne Hathaway portrayed her in Becoming Jane (2007).
Seventh generation aunt (through her brother Edward) of actress Anna Chancellor, who appeared in Jane's favored romance "Pride and Prejudice" (1995) mini-series and who also narrates the documentary The Real Jane Austen (2002) (TV).
