Unfortunately, Keira Knightley was unable to attend the screening premiere because she was sick according to Rupert's interview in this Belfast Telegraph article:

Keira too ill for Rupert's premiere
Actress Keira Knightley failed to attend Thursday's premiere of a film written and directed by her boyfriend Rupert Friend because she was unwell.

Asked what was wrong with Keira - who stars in the short film - Rupert said she was feeling "under the weather".

Speaking ahead of the screening of Steve at Southbank's National Film Theatre in London, he described working with Keira as "amazing".
He said she was a "brilliant person and a brilliant actor" and he "couldn't have had anyone better" to work with on his directorial debut.

Rupert, who acted alongside Keira in the 2005 film Pride and Prejudice, said he had not planned on working with her on the project but he would jump at the chance again. Read full article here...
Speaking of Steve, the official website has just been updated with the teaser trailer we've previously seen and posted here before. Also, there's now a twitter page for the film as well. Check it out and follow it for further news and updates on Steve.

Carey Mulligan to received a Palm Springs International Film Festival Award

According to MyDesert.com, Carey Mulligan (Photo by Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images Europe) will be honored at the 2011 Palm Springs International Film Festival with a Breakthrough Performance Award for 'Never Let Me Go' and "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps."
On Jan. 8, Mulligan will be recognized for her rising star qualities when the Palm Springs International Film Festival presents her with its Breakthrough Performance Award at its black-tie awards gala at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

Carey Mulligan is an actress of extraordinary talent and versatility,” festival chairman Harold Matzner said in a statement. “In her most recent performances as the estranged daughter of Gordon Gekko in ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' to ‘Never Let Me Go,' where her character learns that life isn't always what it seems, she brings uncommon vision and depth to her art.”

Mulligan first came to Macdonald's attention in “Pride and Prejudice” in 2005. She also had roles in “Public Enemies” with Johnny Depp and “Brothers” with Tobey Maguire in 2009.

Past recipients of the Breakthrough Performance Award include Marion Cotillard, Jennifer Hudson, Felicity Huffman and Freida Pinto.

Last year's recipients were Jeremy Renner and Mariah Carey, who became the evening's most celebrated award winner thanks to her odd acceptance speech.

The Palm Springs Film Festival runs Jan. 6-17. It's one of North America's largest film festivals with more than 130,000 filmgoers expected.
