An Education leads BAFTA long lists

Carey Mulligan's film An Education with co-star Rosamund Pike leads the pack with BAFTA long lists. The film led overall mentions with a whooping 17, including picture, director and six for acting (including Carey and Rosamund for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress). This isn't the actual nominations yet, but it's very nice to see them leading the long list amongst other films. Emily Blunt and The Young Victoria as well as Nine, Sherlock Holmes, Me and Orson Welles, and In The Loop all got mentions in the long list. The short list will be announced very soon.

Over 6000 members of the British Academy vote in three rounds to decide the winners of the Orange British Academy Film Awards. The long list is the result of Round One voting, which reduces the eligible films down to fifteen in each category. Round Two voting will reduce these fifteen contenders down to the five nominees. Asterisks denote the top 5 (or in some cases 6) voted by each chapter of the Academy in this first round.

An Education may lead the BAFTA long list, but unfortunately, it's ineligible for WGA.

indieWIRE’s Peter Knegt reports that Nick Hornby’s wonderful work on “An Education” is ineligible for Writers Guild Awards nominations:
Hornby has been a member of WGA for 10 years, a representative for Hornby told indieWIRE today. But after production of “An Education” was completed, a new rule was instituted that Hornby also had to be a member of his local WGA Great Britain, which he was not.
