Check out the new trailer from THE YOUNG VICTORIA starring Emily Blunt, Rupert Friend, Paul Bettany, Miranda Richardson, Jim Broadbent, Mark Strong, Thomas Kretschmann, Harriet Walter, and directed by Jean-Marc Vallée.

The Young Victoria Synopsis: The Young Victoria is set in the period from 1836, the year before Victoria ascended the throne, to 1840, the year she married Prince Albert, and revises the widely held picture of Queen Victoria as an elderly widow dressed in black. In addition to being a love story and family drama, the film explores the idea of instant celebrity – one minute Victoria is living under virtual house arrest, the next she is the most famous woman in the world.

The Young Victoria will be released to theaters on December 18, 2009 (limited). Check out The Young Victoria Stills here!

Emily Blunt Takes The Throne In Our EXCLUSIVE Trailer Premiere Of 'The Young Victoria'

The new trailer for The Young Victoria looks to be everything recent regency flicks have not been.

Emily Blunt
stars as the titular Victoria who, if you need a quick history lesson, went on to be the longest reigning female monarch in the history of the world. Like "Elizabeth" before it, and as stated in its title, "The Young Victoria" looks to be the tale of Victoria's rise to power.

But this films got the chops for greatness. It is produced by Martin Scorsese, written by Academy Award winner Julian Fellowes, and has an ensemble of Paul Bettany, Miranda Richardson and Jim Broadbent backing up Emily Blunt. Plus, check out the costuming and cinematography in the trailer. Sometimes, like in "Marie Antoinette" and the "Pride & Prejudice" remake, that is enough to make a film enjoyable.

Then there's Rupert Friend (Mr. Wickham from said "Pride & Prejudice" remake) playing Victoria's husband-to-be Prince Albert. We like looking at him enough to forget that he and Victoria were first cousins.
